we liked the swimming pool and spent most of the time by it. Unfortunately we did not know that in June the ocean on the south side of the island is pretty active and it did not allow us to swim.

The view became more exceptional as we noticed more things happening in the bay: outrigger canoe and regular canoe races, sailboat races, surfers, foil (motorized surfboard) surfers, beach volleyball games, and large cruise ships (two during the week we were there). This location is in the flight path of the helicopter excursions to Kauai’s highlights so expect noise in the morning. No worries about being awakened by them. The roosters which are everywhere on the island will awaken you much earlier than when the helicopters begin flying. The unit has been partially upgraded within the past few years so that the kitchen seemed more modern than the rest of the unit although there was NO dishwasher. There were lots of spices and condiments (including olive and sesame oil, soy sauce, and honey), rice, and oatmeal. The shower stall was nicely tiled and the “wood” floor relatively new. The windows/doors looking out onto the patio were relatively new (mini blinds inside double pane glass).
Conveniently located near the airport and halfway between Kauai's North and South shores, this full-service 25-acre beachfront resort offers 3 restaurants and bars, 4 swimming pools, a waterslide and...

The esthetics and rooms were wonderful. We enjoyed the location and Pam our housekeeper was wonderful. Del at the Front desk was welcoming and always did his best to answer any of our questions. Hopefully he is a trainer for the rest of the staff. The restraraunt is nice however they are a little over priced for what you get.
The property was clean and it was nice to see the grounds keepers picking up the bird poo. I loved that the patio areas were kept clean as well.
Overall we loved the community vibe and easy access to enjoy the sounds of the ocean.

Everything was beautiful i wish i stayed longer but it's ok we enjoyed everything the pool and the relaxation was amazing.

The average price per night for a 3-star hotel in Lihue this weekend is $409 or, for a 4-star hotel, $694. Looking for something even fancier? 5-star hotels in Lihue for this weekend cost around $567 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
On average, it costs $404 per night to book a 3-star hotel in Lihue for tonight. You'll pay around $464 if you choose to stay in a 4-star hotel tonight, while a 5-star hotel in Lihue will cost around $508, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Be prepared for higher prices than you may be used to.
Be prepared for higher prices than you may be used to. For example, a pineapple at a road-side stand was $12. I purchased one back home a week after returning from Kauai for $2.18. Fortunately, there is a Costco located in Lihue not far from this unit. Having a kitchen in your lodging during your stay in Hawaii is key to saving money. You can still have poke every day if you want, but by buying it at a store rather than a restaurant you'll save big time. Also, having a car is imperative because the key sights are so spread out. Lihue has breweries, distilleries, fish markets, and grocery stores (Costco, Times, Safeway, Target). All sights on the island are less than a day's drive from Lihue.

The location is a few minutes from the airport, Walmart and the beach. Everything was clean and the staff was great. Coffee made in the lobby from 8 to 11 am. The kitchen had a small fridge with a freezer comp, hot plate with some pans and everything needed to make and eat small meals. Hot water, comfy bed, towels and soap. AC worked great. Recommend the stay if you need to be by the airport or on this end of the island.

Lihue is a small working town that serves the tourist industry and the local population. They have rush-hour traffic problems., which I experienced, and the traffic problems on the island are growing.
That said, the locals are friendly, they want us to visit, and I felt safe wherever I went. Plenty of amenities.

Close in shopping at similar prices to what we pay at home.
Close in shopping at similar prices to what we pay at home. This was a private unit so you need to buy your own toilet paper if you run out (front desk won’t give you any). Safeway is close with a Starbucks, food trucks abound (do try them), Kona’s fish and chips are sooooo good! Don’t miss the museum down town. Waze directions app is amazing at getting you around. Costco is close, so is an Urgent Care. Don’t worry if you leave something home, you can easily buy it there.

the airport in lihue so it is easy to get to. most folks stay in kapa'a, which has many more food options. lihue has good coffee (it should. coffee is grown on the island) and a nice beach at the marriott hotel. it is a convenient place for exploring the island but is a town. it is not a resort location. good kuwai museum in lihue, tho. i recommend the museum. just don't stay at the tip top hotel. it is a dive,

This was our first time in Kaui and we only stayed 4 days, then flew to Oahu. We could have stayed longer in Kaui, there is so much to see and do. We really like to drive around the island and find places and things to do. Its definitely more of a day adventure island. It is beautiful. I had a hard time finding something affordable to stay at, and the Royal Sonesta in Lihue ended up being an affordable option, and turned out to be a great option. Although close to the airport, you dont feel like you are. We dont really hang out at the resort so it didnt matter to us where the hotel was however this ended up being a great spot as we were right in the middle and can getting to either side of the island did not take long
We love, love, love this condo and the entire property. Awesome location right next to Kauai Beach resort, use of their 4 pools was included, though not necessary, as we had a lovely pool and spa right at the condo. Loved the privacy of our own condo, free parking, grounds were beautiful and very well cared for. Villas have 30 second to 4 minute walk to the villa beach, depending on which unit you are in. Condo itself is adorable, and the location was perfect for trips to Lihue (to stock up), and beaches north, east, south and west.
The place is perfection is you have kids. We travelled with our 5-year old son and the pool was his favourite part. You really cannot beat the outdoor pool area. On top of that, the rooms are huge with tons of space. We stayed at the Sheraton for the first part of our vacation, and are so glad we chose Royal Sonesta for the rest of it. Absolute best money value for the money and we will be staying here when we come back!
Great hotel with the old Hawaii feel. Some aspects of it are dated but staff very helpful, grounds and pool beautiful and decent breakfast bar. Much more laid back then staying at a stuffy big resort where prices are astronomical and staff struggles to smile at you- don’t overlook this gem!
The cleaning staff were amazing We would like to congratulate the manager Leidel Dinio for her excellent skills of making us welcome and to her cleaning staff who really work hard. The office staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel cat “Mango” was a very lovely bonus to have around.
The grounds were great! Facilities were top notch and the restaurants were very good! The beach is walkable and the pool was a really nice time. I was really impressed driving up to the hotel and am happy with the choice of this property (had a great price as well!!)
Beautiful hotel with updated rooms, very well kept. Rooms were very clean. Beds were super comfortable. Great service at restaurants and aquatic attractions. Loved begginers surfing class at their beach. Conveniently located near the airport with free shuttle service.
- Clean room and nice family hotel with pool and mountain view
- Beach towels, snorkel equipment, paroles and chairs were available at no additional cost
- Close to airport
- Free coffee
- Many parking spots available and free
It's a charming motel. The AC was a window unit. I had a pleasant night's rest. Keep in mind. all over Kauai, even at 5 star hotels, you will hear roosters crow in the morning and before sunset. Don't like it, go somewhere else.
Pretty much everything about the resort was great. Great location near airport, great unit with 2 floors, everything was clean and furnishings were newer and of good quality. 2 balconies both great for morning sun bathing.
Place was HUGE. The equivalent of 4 regular hotel rooms. 2 big bedrooms. 2 big bath. Full kitchen with microwave, stove, cook top and dishwasher. Big living area and dining room. We felt we were at home.
The hotel property is very well maintained. The pools and common areas are clean and well manicured. It is close to Lihue and the airport and right on the beach. As a resort, this ticks all the boxes.
