The holiday home with a terrace and garden views has 2 bedrooms, a living room, a flat-screen TV, an equipped kitchen with a microwave and a toaster, and 1 bathroom with a bath. Towels and bed linen are available in the holiday home. For added privacy, the accommodation features a private entrance. A lovely traditional building so close to the JR station. The house had beautiful wooden details, sliding doors, tatami mats and a private garden. There was a Japanese style bathroom, which we loved. It had air conditioning, fans and underfloor heating (which we didn’t use as it was hot!) There was shoyu, oil and seasoning in the kitchen, soap and toiletries for the bathroom. The owner was very kind, helpful and polite, and made us feel very welcome. Staying in the house was an experience in itself and it was lovely having somewhere so restful and homelike to return to after busy days. There is a convenience store literally around the corner which was very handy for milk, smoothies, pouches of fruit and snacks for the children. It is also close to the shopping area and other station - although we tended to use the JR station as we were travelling with a four year old with little legs!

Everything is so well thought out - blending traditional design with modern technology and finishes. You can even fill the bath up from another room. It is large for two people but still manages to feel homely and intimate. We felt we could live here.

The property is non-smoking and is set 24 km from Shijonawate City Museum of History and Folklore. I really cant praise the place enough. The house itself was charming and serene, with two beautful courtyards and balconies, as well as a sort of private, spacious studio on the second floor. There was a tatami room and a living room with a kotatsu so it was very cosy in the evenings. The house was so well equipped, with every comfort, luxury and convenience, and generous gifts of Nara strawberries, sweets and hot drinks. It was impeccably clean and well organised with gorgeous displays of real lilies and seasonal flowers in the tokonoma. The location was perfect, a short and very interesting walk from Kintetsu Nara station, and 30 seconds from the Daibtsu Ike. It was so ideal a location, I don't imagine I will ever be as lucky finding a holiday home as enjoyable.

We were very happy with our stay at Mikasa Ryokan. Our Japanese-style mansion was very nice and clean, and the food offered a uniquely interesting experience. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful. It was a pleasant stay
Absolutely beautiful house in a beautiful village, couldn’t have asked for more! The warm welcome from the hosts really made you feel all the love and care put into this house. So grateful to have stayed here, I will definitely come back again!
Beautiful decor, lots of amenities to make you feel comfortable, fun luxury facilities, excellent welcoming staff
Amazing rooms, lots of space and the luxury of private outdoor bath/shower in addition to fantastic indoor facilities. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a bit of luxury and loads of space.
Luxury relaxing escape while getting to know japanese traditions and being really close to Nara park for exploring
A traditional onsen ryokan in a quaint mountain village. Our room was lovely and much larger than expected. The kotatsu was a great addition and we used it often. We had a room with a private bath, definitely worth the extra cost. The food was the best meal I had the entire trip, I was so full by the end I could barely get back to my room. The staff were so kind and one person even spoke excellent English. My only regret was that we didn’t stay longer
The hotel is a nice building. Room was spacious and had a touch of luxury to it with the massage chair and spa tub.
Superior furnishings and design, felt luxurious for the price. Everything was super clean and comfortable. Onsen area was the best in Japan so far. Also great location.
Everything. One of the most thoughtfully designed and decorated places I have ever stayed. Host was exceptional and the Villa was beautiful and highly functional.
