The location. 1 hour drive north of Auckland airport, we wanted somewhere quiet to get over the flight from the uk. Perfect. The kitchen dinner and terrace are lovely. The air con is good and necessary. The owner, Danielle, is very friendly and the swimming pool is lovely.

Beautiful property and what a stunning location, absolute gem and will return very soon as me and my partner loved everything about it. Clean, had everything you need and the views…. Wow ! Best of all were the hosts Vicki and Clint…. Salt of the earth people who went way above and beyond with us, they made our stay that little bit better than anywhere I’ve stayed. Friendly, welcoming and we even shared a drink together whilst chatting all things life. I’d urge anyone wanting a get away in Matakana and surrounding areas to book this place. Also they have the best little bunch of pugs and a stunning boxer that were so friendly and lovable

We had the privilege of staying here for the night and we absolutely loved our stay. Thank you so much for having us Josie, you were so welcoming and so lovely. Would recommend this place 100 times over if you're after a little get away with hubby or even alone, it is so peaceful and quiet. Such a lovely little spot to relax at. We loved having a wee break away from reality in this cute, cozy cottage.

We loved our stay at the Tauhou Matakana studio so much we decided to stay longer. Upon arrival it was immediately obvious that Chantal and Peter had put a lot of thought, care and attention to detail into creating a beautiful, tranquil, high quality space for guests. Chantal's homemade plum jam made a yummy addition to our breakfast. The delicious muesli was so fresh we wondered if Chantal roasted it herself on the morning of our arrival :) Everything in the studio was in its perfect place, very clean and of high quality, making our stay comfortable and very enjoyable. Thank you Chantal and Peter.

The location is fantastic - amazing views. A truly luxurious environment to stay in. Welcoming, and very helpful hosts. Great location for the National Park. If you're into bird watching and if you're lucky , like we were, you see Kiwis there at night - many thanks to the wonderful red torches provided by our hosts! Our hosts also gave us great local knowledge to help sort out things we needed to attend a local wedding (hairdresser, suit pressing, etc).
