The accommodation offers 4-star accommodation with a sauna, hot spring bath and spa centre. Best thing was the no shoes policy - it was very nice and comfy to walk around in barefoot or in socks. Pajamas very also comfy and made the whole exprience very homely. The room and entire hotel had nice decorations which was nice. Typically Japanese hotels tend to be quite plain. Visited 7 different hotels during my stay in Japan and this was by far the best one.

The check in procedure was very nice and homey. The facilities are very good as well, especially the outdoor onsen that you can book for a private slot. The room was very spacious. The kaiseki dinner was also amazing! All in all, a very nice ryokan in a good location for seeing the snow monkeys.

The building itself was absolutely gorgeous, clearly authentic traditional style, peaceful homely atmosphere. The room was amazing, so spacious, tasteful, bright and cozy. The staff were warm and helpful at all times and we got a great tour of the facilities at check in. Yukatas and a key to the onsens were provided in addition to the beautiful private baths on the property. The food was delicious, as were the tea and snacks in the room. 10/10 I can’t recommend this place high enough!!

蔕 Heta Nozawa Onsen features a wellness area which includes a sauna. What a gem this place is!! This was our first time in Japan and wanted to go somewhere that maintained a lot of the local culture. This is that place. It feels brand new! Comfortable beds, nice private bathrooms and all the amenities you could want. We stayed in the double room on the lower level. There is a waterfall right outside the room where all night you can hear the soothing sounds of the babbling brook. It was some of the best sleep of my life with that white noise in the background. We really enjoyed the private bath/sauna every day after skiing. The main gondola is only an 8 minute walk from the room. The bar downstairs was incredible, we stopped to have a lemon sour every evening before dinner. Kazu,who manages the bar downstairs, was our favorite! He made our trip so lovely. We (as Americans) wanted coffee first thing in the morning, and when we told him that, he brought us a nespresso maker so we could have it in our room. How thoughtful and special! Also, Akari who cleans the rooms was so kind and went out of her way to speak to us and offer any assistance about places to eat, etc. This place is truly the most comfortable and amazing spot in Nozawa. I can’t say enough good things about it. Aesthetically pleasing, accommodating, and easy access to the ski resort. Absolutely amazing.

Guests can use the spa and wellness centre with a hot spring bath, hot tub, and public bath, as well as a garden. This is a quaint and beautiful property in stargazing village Aichi. If you arrive before 5pm you can have welcome drinks at the lobby. The dinner is unique with Salmon and Horsemeat Sashimi, coal BBQ with scallops, Unagi, prawns, fish, shabu shabu sukiyaki style with marbled wagyu beef that is thinly sliced (melts in your mouth) and lots of fresh vegetables. The sesame tofu with jellified soup was unique. We enjoyed the dinner very much - extremely generous portions - they made the salmon corn rice dish into onigiris so we could pack back to the room because we could not finish. There is a small and very clean onsen in the hotel, the girls and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel room had Japanese style robes that you could wear for dinner and throughout the hotel. It was very comfortable and an enjoyable experience. Breakfast was again impressive. Western style breakfast was sliced potato gratin with sausages and tomato or garlic ranch sauce served with 3 types of bread with margarine and apple jam (white, wheat and tomato bun). The bread was served warm. The Japanese style breakfast came with a bucket of warm Japanese fluffy rice, and a basket of condiments like seaweed, preserved vegetables and plums, lotus, scrambled eggs. There was some hot soup and tea that you can pour over rice. They also served us freshly hand ground coffee and some matcha. The kids had apple juice. At 9pm there is a complimentary stargazing opportunity - Hama-san was very friendly, showing us the different constellations and setting up the telescope to show us the moon and Saturn with its rings. The night we were there 8 Sep 9pm there was a super full bright moon, so it outshone the stars. Despite that we still saw Vega, Ursa Major and Scheat a star in Pegasus (a red giant). When I woke up in the middle of the night to use the washroom - I saw Orion’s Belt and Sirius in Canis Major. The kids enjoyed the glamping room, which had up to 6 beds.

The location is great for snowboarding at Madarao Kogen with easy access, roomy accommodations, and everything else you need for a comfortable stay. But most importantly, the owner and his friends are the nicest people ever and I had a great time hanging out with them as a solo traveler. They're responsive, helpful, friendly, and welcoming, and I'm grateful to them for their incredible hospitality.
