We loved everything about this cabin. We were in the Turquoise cabin. The location was the perfect base for exploring the Golden Circle and the neighbouring Selfoss. It was also convenient to Keflavik Airport as well as Reykjavik.
In the town, there are restaurants, cafes, bars, grocery shops and petrol stations if you just want to hang about the village. We walked to the brewery our first night - everything’s within a 10-15 minute walk. There’s also some hiking and thermal springs close by (we didn’t get to dip in the springs because we ran out of daylight).
On to the property - it was like being home and living near a friendly neighbour. It felt very private and the cabin was very warm in freezing temperatures. (once we identified the one window that was left on breathe!) There was everything we needed for cooking/eating and the coffee machine was a bonus. There’s no cable TV, but that was perfectly fine - we just cosied up to some Netflix movies at the end of the day (when we weren’t in the sauna or hot tub).
The bathroom was spacious and clean and soap, etc. was available, which was unexpected and handy.
The bedroom was comfortable for the both of us. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we sleep like babies the entire stay.
Our favourite parts of our stay were the sauna and hot tub. We enjoyed a couple of sauna sessions during our stay and spent a few nights in the hot tub. On our last night, we were slightly bummed that we didn’t see the northern lights and around the time we were thinking to get out, they appeared and put on the most beautiful show. We didn’t have our cameras, but it’s a memory that will live with us for a long time.
Last, but not least, the hosts were incredible and friendly and available when we needed them. They were also very communicative before and during our stay.
We’ve been considering a second trip when the weather improves, and if we’re down that way, we Weill certainly stay in the Backyard Village again.
Selfoss
Located in Selfoss, Hotel South Coast features a restaurant, fitness centre, bar, and free WiFi throughout the property. Each accommodation at the hotel has city views. Sauna is available. A spa centre is also available for an extra charge. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, a concierge service, and organizes tours for guests. Everything was great! Very well located, right in the town centre, but out of the noisiest road. 5 min walking distance to Food Hall, a venue with several restaurants and a bar. The room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast - superb 😋 There is a spa which we did not come to try (3000 kr for the guests) and a gym (very tiny). Super comfortable place!

We love the breakfast. Hosts make sure that we had enough and they were attentive until we finish eating. The breakfast has everything, cereals, seeds, pancakes, eggs, bread, meats, and so on.
The place could be seen as little and simple but the truth is that once you are in, the ambient is very cozy, nice, clean and comfortable. Another thing is that is near from everywhere between the city, golden circle or if you need to go to the beach. Please not hesistate when the rooms are available. We really enjoy the sauna also!!! My family and I went to 3 different types of stays> cottage, hotels and houses in Iceland but this will keep in our hearts!!!

We loved our stay at Blue Viking Luxury Cabin, there were 8 of us and it was very comfortable. There was plenty of towels and also shampoo/body wash/Conditioner. Also some kitchen products such as coffee pods/lots of tea/herbs and spices. We also got to use a gas BBQ which was ace and Gas supplied. The Sauna and Hot Tub were lovely also.
The location is OK, near to Sellfoss and Seljalandsfoss and Golden Route. They serve breakfast daily, quite enough. My son was happy with fresh waffle. There are microwave and toaster if you would like to use them during the day. There are also hot water and tea options on the dining room. There are sauna and hot tube on the place, but we did not use them.
We really enjoyed the hot tub and the sauna after a rainy day. It was nice to have a private bathroom and the breakfast was great.
Self check-in was a very comfortable option. The room was spacious, breakfast was varied and the hot tubs, although not in a very secluded location, were nice. Best location if you want to explore the Golden Circle.
Hot Tub and Sauna are great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were good. Breakfast was a lot and good.
Stayed in the family room, very spacious, en-suite bath, heated floor, direct access outside to a large terrace and close to the hot tub. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good price. Good breakfast. Nice location. Highly recommended.
Great hotel, lovely and spacious rooms. The hotel absolutely exceeded our expectations. The self check in is very convenient as you can arrive at any point and you can check in into your room so no need to rush your Iceland adventure. The hotel also supplies robes and slippers for your stay so you can easily walk into the hot tubs. The hot tubs are nice and big. Loved them! Also, lovely breakfast!
comfortable room, enough space, hot tub and sauna, good breakfast
