Taz’s mother waitressed ( at the age of 87!) & was always smiling & helpful. 3 small onsens - enough for couples. My husband’s aches & pains disappeared after a dip. Easy walk to centre of town & lovely park. On a weekend both areas are lit up. The park is particularly beautiful.

This 3-star guest house offers luggage storage space and a shared lounge. The guest house has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and a shared kitchen. I loved my stay at Buna Kusatsu. The facility is well curated in every detail and it was great value for money. But what I loved the most was our host: she went above and beyond to help us with all our questions and was extremely supportive when on the checkout morning I was feeling unwell.

I stayed for 3 nights and it was a wonderful experience! perfect location right by the geo-thermal park and quick walk to two most prominent onsen facilities. Modern spacious rooms and a lovely onsen on-site. But most importantly there is Miki who runs the place – an amazing host who has made my stay very special. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Stunning location, amazing food, wonderful hosts! We had two night here for our honeymoon and we loved everything about it. The staff were so kind, helpful, and patient. We had a massage and a facial organised by the hotel and they were both great. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Gozanoyu, a hot springs bath facility is a 2-minute walk away while Ohtakinoyu is a 7-minute walk from the property. Sainokawara open-air bath is a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive from the property. Kusatsu Kokusai Ski Resort is 1.1 km from the property. This was one of my favourite stays during my trip to Japan! Our twin room was cosy, comfortable and so clean. The beds were the comfiest we had in Japan; I had the most relaxing sleep while staying here. We absolutely loved the breakfast we had, and everyone at the hotel was so kind and friendly. Their hospitality was the highlight of the trip! We stayed two nights and the chef made us a different meal each morning, and took us through the dishes as he brought them to us, and we were given delicious welcome sweets and matcha when we arrived. The breakfast room was so cosy with a fireplace and free coffee and tea. The location is excellent and easy to find; it was only a couple of minutes walk to the bus terminal and to the Yubatake, which is where most of the shops and restaurants are located. The four private onsen are also wonderful. We got to try out two, and we never found that we had to wait or miss out on using one of them when we wanted to. I loved the little baskets containing towels, pyjamas and toiletries that we were given. There are plenty of toiletries available in each of the onsen, and the pyjamas were so comfortable I wish I could have brought a pair home!

A wooden building stemming from 100 years ago, the property breathes a historical atmosphere. This is the nicest developed hot spring I have been to anywhere in the world.

Kusatsu International Ski Area is 1.5 km away.The ryokan is 11 km from Haneo Train Station, and 7 km from Sanroku Ropeway Station. Nikko-ji Temple is about a 5-minute walk away.

Spacious house with a great bath. Very comfortable. Unluckily we just stayed one night. We were a family of four people and we slept all so well. Many amenities in the bathroom.
