Located just 2.5 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Morinouta offers accommodation in Nikko with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as luggage storage space. It is set 3.9 km from Tobu Nikko Station and features a concierge service. The ryokan provides rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. My friend and I stayed at Morinouta Hotel for one night, and it turned out to be such a lovely experience. The staff were genuinely friendly at one point, the host came over and asked if we wanted some homemade cheesecake (obviously yes, because… cheesecake). They also gave us tips on places to check out nearby, which was really helpful. The rooms were cosy and comfortable, with huge windows that are perfect for sitting by with a cup of tea or for taking slightly dramatic, Victorian-style photos if you’re in the mood.

Featuring a garden, the ryokan is close to several noted attractions, around 1.6 km from Chuzenji Lake and around less than 1 km from Chuzenji Temple. The host was super friendly and nice, the meals were very tasty (both dinner and breakfast), and the atmosphere was really calm & relaxing. We also enjoyed the private Onsen. The location is great - just near the lake and only a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. Great value for money!

The ryokan will provide guests with air-conditioned units with a wardrobe, a kettle, a fridge, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a bidet. The units are equipped with heating facilities. The staff were so kind and made sure you understood them, best customer service I’ve ever had. Also, we had a traditional room with a private bath and it was perfect. The diner and breakfast were also really good! 10/10 I will come back someday!

Guests at Ryokan Nikko Hoshino Yado can relax and unwind with a massage or by soaking in the hotel’s cypress wood hot-spring baths. Guests can also experience wearing traditional kimono and have their picture taken; contact the property directly for more information. This is a perfect hotel for an extended stay in Nikko and I implore all prospective guests not only to stay here but explore the beauty of Nikko beyond Toshogu shrine Exceptional breakfast and dinner with a spacious tatami room and futon, prepared for you during dinner, after a soak in the semi-outdoor, nature facing hot springs. I visited during the shoulder-low period in Nikko and had the hot spring all to myself for the duration of my stay. Private hot springs available but need-not-necessary The hotel is a very far walk from Tobu-Nikko, please utilize the shuttle bus service, especially if you have luggage. On the contrary, the hotel is near-next door to the Shrines and Temples of Nikko World Heritage Site, perfect location alongside the Tobu Bus - Shinkyo bus stop which enables you to head into Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls and Mt Nantai. English speaking staff were available, were polite, courteous and professional Thank you for having me - I look forward to visiting again

Buffet and continental breakfast options with warm dishes, local specialities and pancakes are available. There is a coffee shop, and a minimarket is also available. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. I am afraid our stay at Kinugawa Keisui might have destroyed our expectations towards other hotels for the future. I can only describe it as absolutely outstanding. Beginning with the scenario location next to a forest and a small river, the huge, modern, beautiful and amazingly comfortable room, which didn‘t only feature several small welcome presents, a minibar filled with a wide (and free) variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and huge and comfortable beds, ending at the most outstanding breakfast and dinner consisting I was allowed to witness in Japan, the hotel and the amazingly kind and professional staff made our stay to be nothing but amazing. There are some many small details we could list, such as the outdoor fire place where you can read a book in a calm and relaxed atmosphere sipping your coffee, the bento boxes for travels during the day, the Onsen on your balcony for which you can adjust the temperature to your perfect needs, the entertainment system in your room should you chose to relax here, the staff which gives you privacy should you want it but helps with any need you might have, the fast and stable internet anywhere in the hotel and and and. We usually don‘t book hotels again, but we will definitely return here during our next Japan trip.

The ryokan will provide guests with air-conditioned units offering a desk, a coffee machine, a minibar, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a bath. At the ryokan, all units include bed linen and towels. I selected this place because I read other reviews about the eclectic unique nature of the hotel and atmosphere. I wasn’t disappointed, in fact it exceeded my expectations in every way. The moment you arrive and are greeted warmly by the staff and handed a free drink of your choice, sets the tone for a wonderful experience ahead. The room was huge, warm, comfortable and very special in its minute details of architecture. We chose a river view room and I would highly recommend doing so as the massive picture window overlooks the forest and mountains and is simply breathtaking in the morning sunrise. This hotel was designed with careful thought given to every detail in its creation, with the mindset of creating a restful respite from the modern busy world we live in today. It has achieved this goal in my opinion and then some. We had the honour and pleasure of meeting the architect the second day we stayed and had a conversation with him about his wonderful hotel, he is such a joy to speak with. The food was also an absolute delight, huge filling and varied items at breakfast, and sumptuous selections and pairings at dinner. The staff are The best of anywhere we have stayed so far in Japan, and are gracious and smiling all the time. We speak very limited Japanese but this was never a problem so don’t worry about this as a barrier for coming here. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back and I was sorry I had to leave. This hotel, and Nikko is such a special beautiful place everyone should see it once if they can. Thank you shelter garden and staff for allowing me to have such a warm, restful and wonderful stay at your gorgeous hotel, and thank you so much for all your warmth and hospitality.
