Everything was perfect! The location is very close to the beach- the nicest beach in Nungwi. Max and Elena are very nice, they helped us with tours organisation and anything we needed. The staff is very helpful and nice. Breakfast is good and tasty, also the food here is very good and affordable. We loved our stay here at Babalao Bungalows. I highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Dhow Boutique Hotel for just one night, but it left a lasting impression. Despite moving to another place for the next two days, we kept coming back to the Dhow for coffee, lunch, and drinks, it quickly became our favorite spot. The hospitality from the owner and staff is truly unmatched; we felt completely at home from the moment we arrived. The views are breathtaking, and the hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the turtle aquarium. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, definitely worth mentioning! The design of the hotel is also incredibly charming. Both the interior and exterior are beautifully crafted, with many wooden elements made by local carpenters using wood from traditional dhows (boats), giving the place a unique and authentic feel. As a bonus, guests have free access to the pool at the sister property, African Bungalows, which was a lovely perk. If I could give more than 10 points, I absolutely would.

Everything was great. The location, the room, the pool, the breakfast. In our two months in Zanzibar we’ve been all over the island and this is truly one of the best places we’ve been to. the staff is very involved, which means that the accommodation is well maintained and everything runs smoothly. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely, with a beautiful view. The staff were exceptionally kind, polite, and helpful. Room service and cleaning were excellent, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. It’s a great value for money. The beach was peaceful, with soft white sand. Although the water was quite shallow, we preferred taking a boat to swim in deeper areas. Megan was very professional and went above and beyond to help arrange a romantic birthday dinner for my boyfriend with a private music band and beautiful decorations in our room. He was truly happy! The swimming pools were stunning, with a gorgeous turquoise color.

We all loved TUI and had amazing holidays. We would definitely come back! The property is beautiful, has a lot of activities and a tropical scenery. Now to the specifics: The staff in general were super friendly and happy. A special thanks to Kelvin from the beach bar. The food was absolutely amazing, from the breakfast buffet, to the lunch in green & grill (paid, as we had only half pension), to all the dinner options - except Andiamo, see below. We specially loved the buffets at the beach and around the pool. We did 2 tours from the hotel which were great and the same price of outside companies. We strongly recommend the swimming with dolphins tour, that can be book at the hotel’s diving shop. Go in the afternoon when there’s less people. They take you on a boat and when you see dolphins you jump to the water! It’s a good workout as you do this multiple times to get a perfect shot :) The swimming pool is great and always had chairs available - great due to the low tide at the beach. This side of the island has the low tide phenomenon which makes it impossible to go swim in the ocean for some hours. But that’s nature. If you do try, take aqua shoes because there’s a lot of sea urchins. There’s free sandwiches, fruit and water at the reception 24h/day.

Beautiful villas in outstanding tropical gardens. Servis of all staff was amazing. Whole hotel concept is unique to safe energy, water and local resources. Chef Beral in main restaurant allways come with new fresh and modern ideas for kitchen and meals. Beach is amazing here well maintained and you can find here quiet spot even beach is not whole private and there is also public part but massai security personal cares about guests and their privacy here. This beach is best on island when you are looking for no tide beach there is only minimum tide during day than other Zanzibar beaches. We loved also Spice garden. You don ‘t need to go to others on island - Zuri spice garden is better than other and include all plants and spice and you can enjoy it for free every morning with hotel guided tour.

Everything!!! The food (breakfast, lunch & dinner) was exceptional! The staff were all super friendly. The resort is beautiful, clean, beds so comfortable with 2 x pillows p/person with different softness! There are 2 pools and 2 restaurants. The beach was always clean and we always felt welcomed & were looked after all the time 🩷 Nothing was a problem. Everybody was extremely accommodating. They offer lots of activities one of them ‘Reef walking’ which I recommend. There’s lots of activities for the kids as well which keeps them entertained. Amazing location with the resort overseeing the beach just a few steps below. Clean picturesque sea view with mild low and high tides. The resort offers kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling equipment, spa and gym, choice of different massages and yoga sessions, all top notch. The staff (management to cleaning service personnell) is super-friendly, helpful and fulfílls all your wishes. The chef is a class of his own and it comes as a surprise Tulia restaurant does not have a Michelin star yet. Several interesting guided or ungiuded tours outside of the resort complete the experience. All in all, a really unique, amazing stay. Thank you!

Enjoyed the overall 'happy' atmosphere that is all around at Stone Town, you feel perfectly safe, everybody is friendly, nobody is harassing you. Typically enjoyed walking through the narrow streets of Stone Town, sniffing up all kinds of scents.

The vibes are great — everything you need is nearby, including shops, restaurants, and tour offices. Restaurants on the beach tend to be a bit pricey, but if you take a short walk into the side streets, you’ll find places offering the same quality food at much more reasonable prices. What I didn’t like were the beach boys — they’re nice and friendly, but can be a bit annoying as they keep trying to sell things. They’re not too pushy, but it’s hard to relax when someone approaches you every couple of minutes. The only time you can truly enjoy some peace is early in the morning. Important note : you have to strongly negotiate the prices and people are very nice and easy going Try to learn few words from their language they will be super happy :)

Paje, beautiful place and beach, plenty of restaurants both on the beach and on the road. The only downside is that the beach is in the shade by 16:30 and very high and low tides makes taking a dip complicated !

A peaceful and welcoming town with a strong sense of community and a safe, relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in a peaceful part of town, where there were noticeably fewer street vendors selling beads and souvenirs compared to other areas. This made the atmosphere even more calm and relaxing, allowing us to fully enjoy the local charm without feeling overwhelmed.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it. We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip. Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough. The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Our stay was amazing and peaceful.

Our stay was amazing and peaceful. The staff was funny and very friendly. Big thanks to Jana and her staff, Lameck in the restaurant section and Janet in housekeeping was so sweet and they looked after us at our 8-night stay. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to...

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten...

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten track... a village, by the sea, with an increasing number of resorts being added. I hope it does not lose its charm to the crowds. This is a quiet, special place.

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.

I loved that it was a proper reflection of the Island in that you took home the beauty of the place and kindness of the people. It was not loud or noisy and had very few touristy hotels and vendors hassling you
