SingaporeAbsolutely loved it here - after 2 days of running the Queen Charlotte Track, this was a great place to stay and my favourite hotel on the track. The room I ended up staying in had a balcony and was very cosy, the location was beautiful, and the staff were great. Even without them getting my Kindle back to me, I'd have rated them a 10. Really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you!

The claw bath and salts was an absolute highlight along with the outdoor balcony with views along the street - enjoyed all the more with the complimentary wine and cheese on arrival. The rooms and beds are gloriously spacious and comfortable. I also hadn't appreciated that breakfast was included in our booking so this was a lovely bonus. Julienne and her team bent over backwards to ensure we enjoyed a wonderful stay. And this really was a wonderful stay. Thank you sincerely!!!

We loved everything of our stay here! The staff was very nice and helpful. He suggested us some places to go for dinner, he told us everything we had to know about the city and he gave us some complimentary milk . They even had menus of the main restaurants there to look at!
Room was spacious and the in room kitchen was very well furnished. Coffee, tea and sugar are complimentary.
We stayed two nights but we would have loved to stay longer!
Perfect spot, 5 minutes walking away from pier and restaurants. Supermarket is right in front of the lodge.

The atmosphere there is very peaceful and calm, which I needed as I was attending a family funeral. and I think everybody needs this in our modern, frenetic world. All the people and staff were truly lovely. It had a special, clear, tranquil energy and it was wonderfully hot and sunny so the pool was welcome and the holiday park was very near all the lovely spots around Picton and Waikawa, which are stunning. The cabins are brightly painted and clean looking and the shower block and kitchen are immaculate. I loved it.

Location excellent as it is central, so near to shops and amenities. Less than 5 minutes’ walk to the ferry terminal check in and short walk to car rentals. Property has a well equipped kitchenette. Quite comfortable, cosy and quiet place.
Special thanks to Kent for kindly allowing us to check in early as my husband was a bit unwell.

Picton is a beautiful place on a sunny day or the warmer months. There's plenty to do if you like the outdoors. It's very kid friendly with a great wee water park and playground. It's easily walkable with some great restaurants and Cafe's. If your a pizza fan then Scoozi is a must.

The Portage was a lovely place to stay, the views were amazing and the staff extremely helpful. We were dissapointed about only 1 restaurant being open, and therefore not a large selection to choose from. We would recommend asking in advance, if they can make up a sharing platter, as this is not on the menu, and when we asked, they mentioned we should have ordered in advance. The beautiful view from the deck totally lends itself to drinking and grazing on a delicious platter. The kids loved the kayaks and paddle boards. We would recommend booking a transfer and taking a picnic to a secluded beach - we had a wonderful time.

We did the Queen Charlotte s walk and staying in the lodge was such a treat for us. They offer pack lunch to rake away for the people doing the track which is really helpfull and there is an outdoor spa available.

Lochmara Bay has so much to see and do and has beautiful...
Lochmara Bay has so much to see and do and has beautiful scenery. Peaceful and quiet if you don't mind the odd speedboat or jetski.
Lochmara Lodge is a fantastic option for people stopping in from tramping on the Queen Charlotte Track or visiting by boat (20 mins from Picton) - the accommodation was excellent as was the food and activities on offer. They even take your bags boat to door and back! Activities include roaming the stunning gardens with unusual forest artwork, enjoying the wildlife in the forest and marine life from the viewing boat, feeding the animals, kayaking, swimming when warm enough, lying in the hammocks!!! Big shout out to the staff who work hard and are helpful and friendly.

I loved the remoteness of where we stayed, yet the sense of being safe and looked after by the locals. The views and natural environment are sublime. The only permitted way to get here is currently by boat as the road has been damaged by a storm and is only allowed to be used by residents' and service vehicles. This makes it very safe to walk up the road to tracks into the wonderlands the area has to offer. The walks vary from fairly easy to somewhat taxing. Some of the tracks have a challenging gradient if you are not used to walking, and would be more difficult if they are wet. Having said that, we are 'senior citizens' with average fitness and we managed to summit the Onahau lookout (416 meters / 1368 feet) above sea level) and return in one piece.

What a fabulous hideaway Ngahere Hou is!!
What a fabulous hideaway Ngahere Hou is!! If you're after a rustic glamping experience, then this is perfect.
We loved the garden setting, the views into Kenepuru Sound, the outdoor shower area (sadly didn't get to try the shower as we availed ourselves the wood-fired hot tub - sooo good!), and the separate kitchen / dining hut.
After a long day of hiking, we were really happy to sit in the sunny kitchen hut and just relax with a cup of tea. Super happy we had the whole area to ourselves (to be honest, I wouldn't want to share this area with other guests who may be staying in the yurt). Would definitely have liked to stay an extra night and enjoy this beautiful spot for a while longer.
Breakfast the next morning was fantastic, with gluten-free bread (!!!), croissants (not gf but the husband says they were very good), bacon, eggs, orange juice, and a ton of cereal options in the cupboard!
The only (slight) negative for me would be that I found the bed a bit too soft but the husband thought it was great and found it very comfy.
If you're hiking to Ngahere Hou from the Queen Charlotte Track: it's in a perfect position distance-wise between Punga Cove and Mistletoe Bay (what we did). It's about a half hour off the track, down the slope into Kenepuru Sound. The climb up the next morning was a killer, you do need to be reasonably fit but after that, the rest of the day/trek will feel almost easy!

We were there for the annual Marina 2 Marina race which is a fun event to take part in.
Picton is a nice place to visit so not just the town where you get the ferry to Wellington - it's way more than that!
Good range of shops and restaurants to look at, great playground on the foreshore for the kids and a nice place to have lunch and enjoy the stunning view of the harbour.
Plenty of boat cruise options that take you around the sounds and some good walks to do around the area.

No one told us that we should have caught the Ferry to Punga...
No one told us that we should have caught the Ferry to Punga Cove from Picton. We drove for hours only to find out that the road was closed for maintenance. Very annoying and we had to wait for hours to drive through a very short window of time to get through. Apparently Booking.com was told by the property, but the Booking.com did not tell us. Disappointing!

Stunning location and very cool property that is perfect for families. Be careful with exploring- we had an accident. Loved the paddle-boarding and glow-worms. Very patchy internet connections. Views from the rooms wonderful. Cafe has good food and coffee although pricey. I would bring more food to self-cater another time. Appreciated access to a laundry.
