The grounds were incredible and included walking trails and comfortable corners with chairs and sofas for casual get-togethers. Our room was actually two rooms (plus bathroom) with plenty of space to spread out and unpack. We very much enjoyed the breakfasts - a variety of tasty foods in the “racing room” containing trophies and news articles chronicling the family’s adventures in car racing. And Alex and his wife were very friendly and personable, greeting us every day and offering us suggestions on things to do and see and places to eat. Although the Masseria is a bit out in the country, we enjoyed the drive through the beautiful countryside on our comings and goings. The grass and palm trees are lush and very green. We absolutely loved the pool and the size of it. Its very chillig and relaxing. On some nights there was life music outside. One night there was a performance at the amphitheater on the grounds. There is a beach set up with chairs and umbrellas for a short few minutes walk, or take the hotel shuttle to it. Ostuni is well worth a visit. Easy to get and parking are ample. Views and surroundings v good. Food was absolutely delicious , ate at Mosca Bianca and highly recommend. A beautiful little scenic town amidst all the Trulli's. Loco Centre full of lovely restaurants, narrow cobbled stone alleys, just too beautiful to wonder through. Cisternino itself is a very lovely cittadina and ideally placed to visit all the towns around such as Ostuni, Ceglie M, Alberobello (although this is like Disneyland), Locorotondo, M. Franca, Monopoli and Putignano, or even Bari. It's also not far from Salento which I combined with this trip and did Lecce, Otranto, Oria, Gallipoli, Castro, S. Maria di Leuca. It is also only just over an hour to Matera which should not be missed and a unique town very much worth the time and kms. There are plenty of restaurants in Cisternino and for your morning coffee e brioche don't miss going to Vignola History or visit the panificio Vignola for a delicious freshly made panino and other treats that will put plenty of padding on the hips.Guest review byElisabethUnited Kingdom - 4.0
What you need to know - on day two of our stay the bathroom...
What you need to know - on day two of our stay the bathroom lighting and hot water ceased to work in one bathroom and this could not be repaired for us. Apologies given but no offer of compensation. You will be expected to manage the garbage and take it out so be prepared for this. It sounded quiet confusing and I refused to do it - The iron was not safe to use - yet is listed as available, this was very important for our stay as we were attending a wedding. I was later told by the owner - the iron was not meant to be listed. We we told by the owner we had broken the law as we had the air conditioning set to 17. Their are no windows in the bedrooms and it got very warm at night. This law actually is only for public places but it did upset me. The property is beautiful and well located. It’s a gem.
It’s a gem. Get up to the historic centre like the other main towns and you’ll find a relaxed oasis of sights, sounds and tastes. Great places to eat and drink. The sort of place where apéro starts whenever you fancy! White stone streets and a real feeling of joy. In the countryside and olive groves, the trulli cones pop up and they’re an absolute revelation. Alberobello is a beautiful town but gets super busy.
Alberobello is a beautiful town but gets super busy. If possible visit early morning, or late evening to miss the crowds. The night view is as wonderful as day time with the Trullis lit up. Plenty of parking - either on the roadside approaching the town, or in the shared car parks.
