Hosts Carmen and Ludka were as helpful as anyone could possibly be. They were like old friends right from our first introductions including sending helpful parking advice in advance and assisting with our GPS. The room and breakfast were both extremely generous. This is most definitely where we would stay if we were anywhere near Sanlucar.

Sanlucar de Barrameda is a charming historic town off the regular tourist route except for sherry afficionados or nature lovers due to the national park nearby. Dubbed the culinary capital of Spain for 2022, its profile is a bit more elevated. This little boutique hotel meets the raised profile of the town and is a beautifully designed renovation of a historic building. The grounds are lovely with a swimming pool in the courtyard, and the rooms are spacious, clean, with excellent bathrooms.

The hotel is really kept clean and in good shape, with typical local style architecture. Location is Top, in the heart of Sanlúcar - 2min walk to main street(s) with restaurants and shops. The staff was very helpful. Good if you know Spanish. Garage is available if not fully booked for extra cost per night (12 € when we were there).

The old town is beautifull with plenty of local people and spaniards from diffrent reagions of Spain. Not too many tourist is good news. There are delicious and trendy restaurants and tapas bars. Medina Sidonia palace is marvelous and the Church of Notre Dane of Ó, a pearl of architecture from spain, has a sweet lady guide (and very well informed).

Just do not book with Casa Luz del Rocío, a refuge with soul, 8 minutes from the Hermitage - the owner is false advertising here property and will take your money under false pretences. DO NOT BOOK HER ACCOMMODATION. It is rubbish.

The replicas of Columbus's three ships of 1492 and the skit put on at the Santa María. If you go to Palos by bus, make sure to find out what stop to get off for the hotel! Don't go to Palos if your main interest is good restaurants. If you have a car you can go to the other monumnents / monestary at or on the way to Rábida to see the ship replicas.

A small Andalusian town with no obvious attractions and not especially close to any. Only basic shopping and eating available. Memorable for the bell ringing and rocket shells that sounded one evening until after dusk, presumably to keep flocks of birds off a nearby crop !! Avoid the bar Zona Zero - expensive beer and cheese !!

The nearby village of Espartinas is lovely.

The nearby village of Espartinas is lovely. Cafe Bariloche is good for coffee and cakes. Emma's boutique is great for clothes. Casanova Restaurant at the end of the town in Centro Comercial Espartal is a find. We ate there both days and were not disappointed. The two supermarkets we went into were very well laid out and clean. The cashiers were charming. We had the quickest service ever in the local Post Office there. I think it took 90 seconds.

Bear in mind the access to the house is via a long dirt track which may not be suitable for all cars. The water is not drinking water so remember to bring bottled water. The stray cats can be annoying so do not leave food on the tables outside and shut the doors when you are eating.

Its a 'one off' - we have travelled all over the world and its in our top 5 as its totally unique and a living time capsule. Brilliant and a definite location to put on anyone's 'BUCKET LIST' and to let your imagination run riot from the Conquistadors to the founding of the America's and the role Religion played. All with a focus on this unique area and the huge significance of the 'equine' industry to create an empire.
