This place is clean, comfortable, quiet and above all SUPER RELAXED. It's a small place where staff is genuinely kind and caring without being fake or trying to sell you something, we could tell they like working there. We loved that there were no strict policies. We could have breakfast whenever we wanted (we are not morning people so this is amazing!), go into the pool late at night and they even let us do a late checkout without any charge. They also informed us of local prices for taxi, fruit, etc so we had a better idea of what a fair price is. There's unlimited tea, coffee and water, and they even let you take towels out to the beach. The beach is super close, just around the corner. Beds are comfy, massage is fantastic and there are also board games and books around for entertainment. Also there is a super friendly dog there that is just as chill as the owner - don't worry, she does not jump on you. There is also a sweet cat that loves cuddles but will leave you alone if you don't want to interact. Both of these animals are clearly pets, they don't live on the streets. For us this was a nice bonus as we love animals, but even if you are nervous, don't let this stop you from staying here. Babalao is very suitable for couples and solo travelers, but can also accommodate families - there even was a small birthday party for one of the guests. 😊

There is a lot of activities you can enjoy (free of charge) like yoga, reef walks, and Swahili lessons. 10/10 no doubt.

This 4-star hotel offers a kids' club, room service and free WiFi. Guests can enjoy African and American dishes at the restaurant or have a cocktail at the bar. We loved everything about this hotel. This is a relatively new hotel and small hotel (only 6 rooms), located in a dreamed place with stunning ocean views from every room. The rooms are big and comfortable, beautifully designed and very well maintained. Restaurant/bar open from 7am to 11pm every day. Food is ok but we went in low season and the hotel was at half capacity so I think this might be better in high season, cocktails were really good. This is an ideal hotel if you are looking for a very quiet relaxing vibe, operated by their owners, on the beach (the hotel is design to live your holiday barefoot as all common areas are sand, don’t worry there’s a feet washer outside every room). Town is a nice 30 min walk down the beach only in low tide, or a USD 5 taxi/tuc tuc. We loved it so much that we end up cancelling another hotel we had in the north of the island just to stay more time here. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a super relaxed holiday, were you don’t need to leave the hotel if you don’t want to. Beautiful beach walks and amazing snorkel right there from the beach.

The entire property is really well laid out, with trees around the pool that give it a really warm and intimate feeling but also provide much-needed shade if you burn easily like I do. The food area and swing seats are inviting and relaxing, so it's a real oasis. The rooms are light and comfortable with good air conditioning. They are also remarkably sound proof, with some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in in Tanzania. The owners and staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, and I love the resident kittens they have taken in. The food was good and breakfast was filling and tasty. It's well located in that the beach and shops are in very easy walking distance, but it isn't impacted by the hustle and bustle or the noise that is common in other venues. A really delightful find, we will certainly be back!

We had such a great stay at Kendwa Breeze! It’s a really cozy and peaceful place, just a short walk from the stunning Kendwa Beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the whole vibe was super relaxing. But what really made our stay special was the staff – so friendly and welcoming, always happy to help. If you’re looking for a quiet, charming spot to unwind in Zanzibar, this is it. Would definitely stay here again!

It is a small hotel with an amazing view and services. I recommend booking the room with direct sea view. Rooms are very romantic. Dining experience was superb. Chef Suleiman really amazed us with his dishes. I definitely recommend booking at least half-board package. The restaurant offers a la carte menu with different items every day. On some nights they arranged local shows (thanks to Cecelia for the services). Staff are very helpful and kind.
