This was one the best hotels i stayed in my time in Sri Lanka. The staff was great and the owner even more so. I did a tour with him through the knuckle forest reserve and it was absolutely beautiful. He also knew a great deal about the places we went to and the local community. The hotel was clean, had a good vibe and the vieuw from my room was amazing. 2 other rooms where being built and he had plans to put in a pool. If this place gets known, its going to be packed with tourist. I would highly recommend this place and if i ever go to Sri Lanka again, this hotel is going to be at the top of my list.

I loved everything, especially the owners, Pearl and Ranjan. They treated us like their own children—they are truly wonderful people. The breakfast was delicious; Pearl is an amazing cook, and Ranjan joined us for a walk around the area. If we ever return to Matale, this will undoubtedly be our stop again. Thank you for everything. I recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful, nature-surrounded retreat and honestly, I wish I could have stayed longer. The entire experience was incredibly calming — nestled in the heart of nature, the serenity of the surroundings was just what we needed to unwind. What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Sydney, the General Manager, Kasun the Butler, the Chef and the entire team went above and beyond to accommodate my partner’s dietary restrictions, ensuring every meal was safe, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. The food was outstanding, fresh, and full of flavour, easily some of the best we’ve had while travelling. Their attention to detail and genuine care made us feel incredibly supported and welcomed. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully designed to blend in with the natural setting. We woke up to the sounds of birds and the rustling of trees — a rare and peaceful experience. If you're looking for a quiet, restorative escape with incredible food and even better hospitality, this is the place. We left feeling refreshed and so grateful — already dreaming of coming back.

We had a lovely stay at Jay’s. He is a great host and his sister is an excellent chef. They made us a great dinner and breakfast with vegetables from their own garden. We often read ‘the best curry’ in many reviews, but I can truly say that this where the best meals we had during our trip in Sri Lanka (and we had many good meals).

The host and his family are really kind and helping to show you around. Learned a lot about Buddhism as well which was really nice, it’s a really nice experience and you can really see the local life there. Not a lot of tourism.

The most incredible location in a village with breathtaking views. The food is fabulous, and you can see how things are cooked as the kitchen is open. Kids loved making their own food with the two ladies who cook traditional meals. Freshwater pool is really good, and you can feel the freshness of the spring water. There were cinnamon trees everywhere and Jagath shows us how cinnamon is cut and prepared as a spice. We will definitely return next year.

Book this place when you wish to see many things in and around Kandy! The owners went the extra mile to make me super happy. He is a safe driver who showed me many places per day in his comfortable car and she cooked fantastic meals for me with fresh herbs and spices out of their own ‘jungle’. They are a lovely and honest family, the best hosts during my world-travel :-) Also: the place is a gem in the mountains, beautiful decorated and with a clean pool. I felt really at home here.

The super friendly and very communicative owner gave good tips for hiking and showed us a nice waterfall nearby. Our highlight was that he organized a night-out in the village, showing us around the rice fields and the temple and serving us amazing local food in the village in the traditional way. If you are looking for a great local experience in the nature you came to the right place!

At first we didn’t really know what to expect since there weren’t many reviews on booking, but we were really enthusiastic about this place. The location is stunning, it’s in the middle of nature. I also really liked the people that were hosting. The food was amazing and they made a bonfire at dinner. The woman also took us on a really cool hike through the rice fields. It was an amazing experience all together.
