What a wonderful place and a great adventure. We love the location, the little house is super clean, no mosquitoes and the best natural swimming pool. The food is amazing and the owners very sweet and helpful. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it to the moon and back. Highly recommended. Also the organized guided tours delivered more than we could hope for.

We enjoyed our stay at Sinharaja Rest very much. Maps may not for some reasons show the exact directions as there is a newer road uphill that one should take to reach the place. Relying on map directions we ended knocking on the neighbours' door but they kindly showed us the right direction : ) The place is an excellent starting point for a rainforest tour. The host organized a six hour rainforest tour for us and also took us to the bus station when we left, so we were very well looked after. The rainforest tour was awesome! We saw lots of birds, some monkeys and some snakes and our guide was very knowledgeable. Special care should be taken to keep leeches off as they are hungry and crawl faster than you might imagine. We were provided leech socks by the host that kept most of them away, but I still donated some blood to a couple of leeches. It may be a good idea to take some adhesive bandages with you to stop the bleeding. Sinharaja Rest is located at the edge of the village, so one can sit on the terrace and absorb the village sounds and listen to birds singing. The location is idyllic, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty—it truly feels like stepping into a peaceful oasis. The rice and curry were delicious, with generous portions. I booked a bird tour in the Sinharaja Forest with Achi (Sinharaja Tour Guide – Rain Forest Tours in Sri Lanka) and also decided to stay at his family’s accommodation, which I found very practical. The hosts were extremely kind, polite and professional. They gave me great tips, supported me with all my wishes (for example, I wanted to visit a tea factory in the area) and even helped me arrange a car for my next destination, since there was no Uber available in this rather remote area. The accommodation and the garden are beautifully designed, and you can clearly see how much effort, energy and love the host and his family put into it. The room was very comfortable and lovingly arranged. I also ordered both dinner and breakfast there – the dinner (fried rice) was excellent, and the breakfast was customized to my wishes. Originally, I had only booked one night but spontaneously decided to stay for another because it was so nice and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. I also recommend everyone to explore the nearby town, which is within walking distance. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I can warmly recommend Eco Villa Sinharaja to anyone visiting the area.

Such an incredible place hosted by a very inspiring person. I stayed for 3 night, but wished I had more time. If you are open you can really learn for life.

The breakfast and dinner are very sizable and super delicious. Especially love the Sri Lankan rice and curry served during dinner, best rice and curry I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Also really love the pool, one side faces the jungle and you can enjoy the sounds of nature and spot all kinds of animals running through the trees while you take a swim. The host is very attentive and makes an effort to satisfy your needs. He can help arrange safari tour and transportation to other regions as well.
