The meals were amazing and so was the private bath. For an extra fee you had access to a private open-air bath and it was worth every penny. This is such an amazing hotel and our room was HUGE with lots of cute snacks and little bits of local charm.

Everything. Check-in was smooth, rooms were decently big enough with cute chairs in the room. Each room even has a filter coffee brewing kit with hand grinders and beans!! First time I've ever seen this. They have communal baths, but also 4 private baths. There is no reservation required and you simply go in when it's empty. Each of the 4 has different decor/themes so I highly recommend checking them all out. They also have various coloured yukata for both men and women to pick! No more boring blue yukatas. It's absolutely fantastic. Meals were a major highlight of the stay. Each little dish was so prefectly cooked with great balance of flavours. The waitress attending to us was also super friendly. In my two weeks in Japan, this is definitely top 3 in all the meals I had. I'm definitely coming back to stay. I recommend 2 night stay at least to fully enjoy the facilities. Or at least a full 2 days 1 night.

Located in Kasuga, 26 km from Takamatsu, Asan Kotonami features a terrace and views of the mountain. The ryokan has a hot spring bath and sauna, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant.

The food is unbelievable! And the Onsen with a waterfall as backdrop was so beautiful and relaxing. Each window looks ouy over mountains with forests.

We were extremely fortunate to stay in the Choseiden cottage. The very generous layout and views over the garden towards the faraway mountains, the scrolls, the paintings, the wooden furniture of this once tea house, not too forget the private bath (“Onsen”) with its glass panel onto the forest were exquisite. The staff were most helpful and kind. Very warm thoughts go to Reina who brought us our meals and guided us through the intricacies of the local cuisine, while answering with a joyful warmth our relentless barrage of questions about Japanese culture and herself. A stay which will linger!

A 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Train Station, Kotosankaku Hiten provides Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds and Konpira Mountain views.

Excellent onsen hotel. It is a good location near the train station, with an airport bus stop in front of the hotel. Easy access to the Kotohiragu. Very helpful and well friendly staffs. Clean room with outside bath in our room is fabulous. Nice dinner and breakfast.

Perfect location less than a minute from the stairs to the shrine. Only a 10 minute walk to the train. Loads of shops line the stairs. The hotel itself was exceptional: staff, facilities, onsen, restaurant, room - all were absolutely top notch. One of our best stays in Japan!
