We have never experienced this kind of luxury in our lives….. this place and environment totally blew our minds! We had te luxury to stay in the villa, and exceeded all our expectations. The views, the pool, the sauna, the hotspring tub, the fireplace, the BBQ… it was more than enough to really end our holiday totally relaxed! We were supposed to go to Tokyo the last 3 days of our holiday, but we where glad that we canceled that, and went to Shikuoka instead! The falls and wasabi fields and hikes nearby were great excursions, and then come back to the villa was a real dream! Also there were no other guests, so we had the whole place for ourselves…. The main feature is obviously the perfect location: built onto the cliffs of Tsubasawa bay, providing a picturesque view from any point of the hotel, including the reception panorama window, the dining area, the onsen pools and the room windows. All built around the guests' peaceful and undisturbed leisure, the breakfast and dinner provide a wide variety of traditional Japanese seefood, incl. the bluefin tuna days, sashimi and sushi varieties. The rooms are spacey and comfortable (expecting a traditional Japanese tatami floor + futon bed interior), the tea ceremony set is a plus. The Tsubasawa beach is accessible right at the bottom of the hotel, providing an practically private beach.

One of our favorite hotel if you like to experience an outdoor onsen with crashing waves and great sunset sea view. You can reserve an onsen for private use (only once per night stay, unfortunately). We also found the kaiseki means of excellent quality. I understand some guests did complain about the structural integrity and conditions of the building and rooms, especially the molds and the handrails down to the open-air onsen. However, I did not find this an issue during this visit and was very satisfied with the wooden handrails provided. Unless you have major sinus issues, do not miss this hotel if you need a stop at the Dagoshima area.

They issued us a wrong type of room and as an apology upgraded us to a room with private onsen. The hotel is a bit old but is clean. Both the indoor and outdoor onsens are nice. The view of the sea from our room is gorgeous. The relaxation room is huge, there are massage chairs, board games, hammocks and lots of books for guests to enjoy. The buffet dinner is great, good variety (Japanese) and delicious. What surprises me is the free flow of alcohol; sake, wine, beer and even whisky! Service staff is helpful and professional. The carpark is opposite the hotel across the road, so it is better to drop off your luggage and travel buddies first.

Very comfortable stay with professional housekeeping management which gave us a glimpse into traditional Japanese onsen culture; the staff are very kind and helpful taking charge of everything ranging from meals to the onsen with meticulous care; the dinner was absolutely excellent: not only did they offer a great variety of Japanese cuisine but they did it in a magnificent way, serving every delicacy with great hospitality and professionalism.

It was such an exceptional experience. The staff were very nice and welcoming. They have taken care of us from the start check in to check out. They sent the luggages to our room, their dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious along with the river view very peaceful. And the onsens were great. We were appreciated that they even wiped down the windows for us because of the foggy weather. Thank you very much.
