Arima Onsen, Kobe
Founded in the 12th century and beloved by Junichiro Tanizaki and other Japanese novelists, Tosen Goshobo is the oldest of the hot-spring inns at Arima. Standing beside the Taki River, it features outdoor hot-spring baths and traditional in-room meals and is a 5-minute walk from Arima Onsen Train Station. The Japanese rooms have traditional futon bedding and a minibar. The staff are proficient in English, and the services are excellent. The room is spacious and clean, but the highlight is the futon—it’s incredibly comfortable, warm, and just right.

Featuring an open-air bath, the 4-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, a lift and luggage storage for guests. Beautiful Ryokan with amazing staff (most of whom spoke English) who bend over backwards to make your stay special. We stayed in a room with western beds which were really comfortable and the room was immaculate. Breakfast and dinner were spectacular - so much high quality food and a big variety (we did struggle a bit with the Japanese style breakfast, but it was just very traditional food which our western palates weren't accustomed to). The onsens in the hotel (regularly switched between male and female so everyone can enjoy) are lovely, and the rooftop one is beautiful. Such a special stay and I can't compliment the staff enough.

This 4-star ryokan provides a spa experience, with its public bath and open-air bath. North Disaster Earthquake Monument is 4.7 km from the ryokan and Kehi Shrine is 5 km away. Conveniently located in the middle of the 7 onsens; private onsen that is also tattoo friendly. Open air private onsen requires prior booking. Breakfast requires prior reservations. Staff is responsive if you message the property. Staff is very helpful and made me feel like family. Kaki-san was especially welcoming and helped me tie my Obi and Yukata properly. The night staff knows less English, but still communicated well with me and explained the timing of the Onsens. A ticket for the hot springs is given, and lasts from the start of your stay to 1pm the day you leave. I stayed only one night but wish I could have stayed longer. There is a shuttle that takes you to the Inn from the kinosakionsen station. Everything is walkable from this onsen which really helped since I use a cane. The steps weren’t too steep, and the restaurant was absolutely delicious . Thank you for the hospitality. I hope to visit again.

It is set 4.9 km from Seto Shrine and provides free shuttle service. The accommodation features a hot spring bath, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. Yuraku was an amazing ryokan. On top of access to all the public baths of Kinosaki, the hotel provides gorgeous private baths that you can enjoy alone. If warned in advance, Yuraku also caters for particular food requirements and prepared us delicious vegetarian kaiseki food for both diner and breakfast. We greatly appreciated this possibility which allowed us to fully enjoy the experience of the ryokan. All the staff was extremely kind, helpful and discreet, and we were particularly amaze that Yuta, who took care of the diner, made the effort to translate the menu in French and was able to speak few words with us to present us the different dishes. The room is beautiful and so is the view on the garden where we even spotted a monkey sneaking through the bamboo grove! We would go back and recommend without hesitating.

A true 5 star hotel like they used to be with incredible customer service and facilities. Great swimming pool, restaurants and food. Shuttle bus service to and from the main local train station was very convenient and for free before check in and after check out. I would definitely go back next time I visit Kobe.
A beautiful hotel, very classy with amazing staff. Location is ideal and the views are stunning !
It is a traditional onsen so don't expect luxury. Do book a room with a private outdoor bath overlooking the bamboo garden or book a private onsen when you check-in. This is the only way to properly enjoy the property.
Classy. Great view. Very relaxed atmosphere. Helpful staff.
lovely view, spa, and their garden. superb cleanliness throughout.
We booked the suite and I'm telling you it really was worth the money! :) We visited a more modest onsen earlier and this was like a luxury version of it. We were truly relaxed after our stay. I've never seen a hotel room so beautiful and never had a dinner like that before! Breakfast was luxurious too, japanese style. We reserved a private onsen on check-in and it was so lovely also.
It’s understated but in a nice way. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. The private Onsen is so relaxing. It’s a luxury to have it all to yourself. We booked a Kaiseki dinner and it was amazing! A big thank you to the Executive chef Yoshihiro Ogasawara!
The breakfasts and dinners were outstanding - exceeded my expectations at the Ryokan. The four public baths can be used privately on a first come, first served basis and it felt like a luxury to share a large hot spring bath with my partner. The staff, with little english, communicated with us as best they could given we had next to no Japanese. My partner had help with the fitting of het Yukata and the last doing this spent a significant amount of time making sure it was just right.
felt like a 5 star experience without the 5 star price tag exceptional service from the bellman, reception and the bar staff
