Luxury Hotels in Kaikoura

Mondello Kaikoura was very conveniently located, less than 2 mins drive to the main street dotted with shops and restaurants, and less than 2 mins (in the opposite direction) to the supermarket, convenience stores and other restaurants. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment - which was clean and even had a balcony with mountainside view. There is a guest laundry (coin operated) that was easy to use and convenient.

Staffs are very helpful and patient, the location is perfect, views are perfect too. Highly recommended.

The care put into our room stood out. Fresh feel. From clean, newly painted walls, to new sheets and towels. Fridge functioned well. The bathroom was exceptionally stocked. Great products. Breakfast was outstanding.

We arrived to Cubby House Stay after 2 weeks at a family wedding in NZ. Visitors from the UK we felt emotional having just said goodbye to family to travel back down to Christchurch airport. We stayed at Cubby House stay for 2 nights to break up our journey and wow what a hidden gem. We booked 2 nights because other reviews had said it is a must to stay more than 1 night. We second that. We would even suggest staying 3 nights + if you can. It is a tranquil retreat. A home from home. We instantly felt comforted and at home. Leanne & Richard are the nicest people you could meet, nothing was too much trouble or too much to ask. We didn’t want for anything. The cubby house was supplied with absolutely everything you could possibly need and more. Food supplies so much so we didn’t have to go to a shop whilst there. Fresh hen eggs from the chickens. Toys galore for our 10 month old to keep her entertained, high chair, safety gate, every thing you’d need at home for a baby. For us the comfiest bed that was sprayed with lavender pillow spray to help us relax & unwind. We had the best nights sleep we’d had for nearly 3 weeks! It didn’t feel like being in a hotel bed with hotel pillows, it felt like sleeping at home. The biggest comfiest sofa you sink into to watch a movie. We had breakfast al fresco. The views were breath taking, we could see the whole coast line, at night the stars lit up the night sky, we’d wake to bird song, & Brian the peacock perched on the balcony to wish us good morning & the goats and freckle the pig would race down the side of his fence to greet us excitedly, Shelly and Mabel the ducks too. As we’d drive in and out the turkeys hoppy and Trevor would greet us on the driveway. Leanne & Richard kindly took us on a full tour of the place and introduced us to all the animals which our daughter absolutely loved! It was great fun & I’ve never seen a cow so big as Jesus the giant 6ft + cow. You honestly couldn’t beat this place.

Location like no other!! The most comfy bed ever! A must do!

We hit very bad weather when arriving here for a night, but the pod is wonderful regardless of the weather. The owners certainly put a lot of thought into making you comfortable, so there is plenty of guidance, boots and raincoats ready to help you out. The pod itself sits in such a beautiful location, between sheep and overlooking endless rolling hills. We brought our own food and cooked dinner, and with music on the bluetooth speaker we felt like we were alone in the world. It is rare to find a place where you can still isolate yourself like this while still enjoying all comfort.
