The location is amazing (cut through directly across the road to the ski run) very close to dinner/bar options and convenience stores. The owner/host, Miwa, is absolutely lovely, very welcoming and helpful. I took advantage of ski rental delivery. Very nice to have the small onsen. Stunning view of Mt Yōtei, if you’re lucky.

Sato-san was an amazing host who made my stay easier whenever he could (e.g. by dropping me off at Kutchan station for a bus to Rusutsu). The house is a classic ski lodge, and amazing that this option still exists when so come of Hirafu has come to be dominated by giant, sterile hotels. Hope Sato and Lodge Cowbell are there for years to come!

Guests can choose to stay in the Ramat or Snowgum Lodge. Both lodges are non-smoking and offers free Wi-Fi throughout. Just hit a button on the hostel's website and they picked me up from my point of arrival within 10 minutes. Had a huge breakfast spread, which is super nice when all you want to do is get on the mountain. As well as a courtesy bus to get you to your choice of Gondola in the morning. Beds were super comfy and warm, way better than you normally get for a hostel. Staff were very nice and accomodating. Great dry room and storage for gear. Couldn't have asked for more, thanks team!

Anna and Aiden were excellent hosts. The Lodge was clean, warm and comfortable. Cosy beds and fabulous hot showers!. Ample breakfast was provided with a delicious home cooked hot option. We were fortunate to have a car, but I believe the Lodge mini bus and the resort Shuttle services worked well for other guests. Great value for money, lovely place to stay. Would highly recommend.
