Everything was great. You get what you pay for... and a little more. For example, we asked for a room with good views, and the staff assigned us one during check-in. They also kept our luggage for 3 or 4 hours at the lobby until check-in, since we arrived early. Interestingly, the hotel had a "sip hour" during our visit, where they offered wine to their guests for free. Sadly, we couldn't make it to the sip hour. In addition, they released the deposit very fast, which shows a great deal of respect for the guests in my opinion.

the mall had maybe two shops and all the others had closed...

the mall had maybe two shops and all the others had closed down, was quite disappointing. there are still a few shops in and around union square, but few and far between. didn't have the cool vibe it used to have. quite a few people high on drugs or sleeping in the streets - no issues, but definitely has a bit of an edge to it.

Sadly Union Squares gone so downhill, tbh it couldn't get much worse. So many empty shops. This wasn't for first trip to San Francisco, regrettably it will be our last. The change in the last six years is massive. We didn't feel particularly safe there, which wasn't helped by all the signs warning you. Our first night there must have been 100-150 motorbikes and Quads all racing down the Main Street, with loads of the bikes pulling wheelies, this wasn't an official organised event simply a load of bikers took it upon themselves. There was one police car with its lights flashing but nobody taking an ounce of notice.

Close to a lot of nice cafes and shops. The staff in the subway are pretty touchy, and you have to get the clipper card to use public transport. The area going away from the wharf is quite seedy, like an open-air opium den with drug users injecting in public. Some of the cafes included taxes of ~$30USD, bringing out breakfast for 2 to $85. Better to ask ahead. Expensive place overall.

It’s a beautiful area, but just be a little cautious about the amount of homeless people… sometimes these people can be harmful, just put up your radar and be wise !!! Dont matter which city you go to on this Earth you always have to be wise and make safety your number one priority!!!!

Property is exactly as it appears in the listing. My room was clean, spacious, with excellent water pressure in the bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and I liked the complimentary tea, coffee and pastries. Also appreciated how quiet the hotel is, despite its location near Union Square and the cable car lines.

Loved the mission and commitment to honoring all branches of the military using framed historical photography and artwork on all the halls of every floor of the hotel. The service to guests was outstanding! Happy hour was extra special in that guests receive two free drinks per hour. Chesty’s restaurant on the 12th floor was amazing both in terms of menu and view of the city. Cesarios next door is fantastic for lunch. Location is one block off Union square. I’ll never stay anywhere else!

One of few properties that is family friendly near union square! Kids enjoyed the cornhole and checkers available for the courtyard. Next time will definitely book a suite but the double room was just fine. Free crib for babies available. The staff said the hotel was newly remodeled and reopened seems like they are really trying!

Super safe neighborhood, quiet at night, super quiet on the weekends. The hotel restaurant was exceptional. Walking distance to Embarcaderro, China Town, Little Italy (a little further walk), union square. Everyone is super friendly at the hotel. The happy hour 5-6pm was nice.

nice hotel in heat of san Francisco union square - close to all major attraction of san francisco - many dinning and shopping option near by - cable car takes you to china town and fisherman wharf - metro station also nearby. hotel was clean, comfortable bed and pillow - coffee making machine in the room - requested late checkout which was allowed till 1 pm. welcome drinks, pop corn, fruits + other snacks at reception.

it is in union square so it is close to a lot of restaurants, the pool is nice though we didnt use it. the hotel had good insolation therefore quiet . I brought up the issue of the dirty rooms and making the rooms look nicer than they are on booking. com. they weren’t very helpful at first saying i booked with a third party. when i requested that they give me the one day parking for free, they complied.

Hotel is conveniently located near Union Square (although since it's San Francisco, a lot of uphill & downhill walks). Cable car stop was just across the hotel. Room was very spacious & the hotel offers water pitcher which you can fill-up at the lobby. Staff were very helpful & quite pleased that the hotel does not charge any destination fee

The hotel is right on Union Square and right by the cable cars. I really like how well-maintained everything is, considering that the hotel has been operating since 1915. The staffs were very nice. I love the walk-in closet — makes it really easy to store my luggages. I would definitely stay here again.
