The Montague was a cosy, elegant and friendly base for my trip to London. The staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Megan explained the company policy is to make women traveling by themselves comfortable in a room overlooking the garden, away from the lift and quite spacious. The restaurant serves beautiful food and the bar has a pianist in the early evening. The location is perfect for exploring, just 10 mins walk from the theatre district and Covent Garden and lots of transport options. If you walk to the end of the street, you will find Russell Sq. There is a lovely Italian Cafe where I had breakfast under the trees. Thank you Megan, Sebastian and Georgia for making my stay special.

British Museum

As Great Britain’s Empire expanded, so did its cache of material treasures – many of which are on display in this world-class museum. Among its eight million exhibits, you'll find the stunning Elgin Marbles from Greece, the Benin Bronzes and the legendary Rosetta Stone. The Reading Room stands at its heart and is spectacular in size and scope.

This is a fabulous museum, and takes more than a day to see.

This is a fabulous museum, and takes more than a day to see. We paid for an early tour, which was nice, but perhaps unnecessary. It was a fairly crowded Saturday in September, but it's so big viewers are able to spread out. Not sure what it would be like in the summer. I would love to go back and allow for 3 shorter days. We were exhausted after 8 hour.

Get a guided tour.

Get a guided tour. I normally like to explore places under my own steam. However I have missed so much in this incredible museum before my American Cousin persuaded me to join her on a tour! Also sometimes retired professors do free mini tours of their chosen subject. I enjoyed a fascinating tour of the Elgin/Parthanon marbles

Do not go to this museum thinking you will see everything. Even with close to four hours, we barely scratched the surface--but what you do see is incredible and that means there's always more for a future visit!

We were overwhelmed by the number of noisy visitors first thing in the morning. It was not a warm day but it was very stuffy and there was no air flow through a lot of the galleries. The information tags on some of the exhibits were poorly placed and very difficult to read unless you were right up close.

Pre-book a ticket or go on a late opening evening ( The queues can be very long). The Egyptian /Assyrian statues and monuments are spectacular ,asare the controversial Elgin marbles. For intrinsic British exhibits, Roman Britain is fascinating. The reading room is hosting an exhibition at the moment. A very interesting space set in The Great Court. Top tip _ don't try to see everything in one visit. Plan and Prioritize!! Top Tip:

Spacious, beautiful design. Loved my deluxe room on an upper floor. WiFi worked great. The location is fantastic between Euston and King’s Cross station and a quick walk to the Coal Drop Yard or 20-30min walk to the British museum or Covent Garden area

Location is perfect. It is in the center of everything. Right in the middle of British Museum, SOHO, and Oxford Street. Room is a little small but clean. It has the bare minimal but fine since I was just in the room for sleeping. Didn't interact with the staff much but when I did they were very helpful.

I chose this hotel because of it's excellent location and good price. Some other hotels offered windowless rooms or very small rooms for this price, while in the Bedford hotel I could book a large room (Standard Twin Room) with excellent garden view. I could even see the top of the British Museum. On my last day I could leave my luggage in the hotel, that was a big help. I liked the tea and coffee in the room.

Excellent room (we scored a corner room!) with great views. Beds were very comfortable with nice linens. Separate toilet room and bath both had windows. Very comfortable space. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with a huge variety. The staff is great. Lots of shops and restaurants around. Very close to the awesome British Museum. We also enjoyed the various squares.

Based on reviews I expected less. First this is not a luxury apartment. When you calculate price, location and quality you get, apartment is great. Studio was normal size 19 sqm. Everything, one can need, was there: kitchen, two chairs and a table for sitting, wi-fi, storage room, safe. What is best everything was working we didn't need to go to the reception once. Location is great near British Museum.
