I'm afraid my words will not be enough to express how much I loved my stay here. Kenさん and Yukiさん were extremely welcoming. I enjoyed my conversations with them, learning about Magome-juku, umeshu, and many other things despite my very lacking Japanese skills. When it was time for me to leave and embark on my hike to Tsumago-juku, they ran after me to give me a bottle of iced water to help me with the summer heat. I almost teared up from their kindness. I was on a solo trip for my birthday and they gave me the most memorable moment of my trip. Other things to note about this guesthouse: Room: I'm not sure about the other rooms but I secured the best one. It had an amazing view of Magome-juku. There is only a futon but it was very comfortable. The room is air-conditioned and although not sound-proof, Magome is quiet and you can hear the peaceful sounds of water flowing through the canals at night. Shared spaces: The shared spaces include the dining area, living area, toilets, showers, and an indoor bath. There is also a laundry area which you can use for a small fee (about 500 yen if I'm not mistaken). Reception is not 24/7 and the lights out is at 10pm I think. The shared spaces are not only clean, but they're also beautifully designed! Lots of dried flowers as decoration. Meals: You can opt to have dinner and breakfast here again for a small fee. Dinner is Indian curry and let me just say-- it was delicious! I had the spicy chicken keema, although personally I wish it was a bit spicier. The homemade yogurt was simply amazing. Breakfast is a simple spread of eggs, bread, yogurt, cereals, a variety of fruits, and drinks such as homemade juice and coffee from the coffee shop down the street. This was again very good and I enjoyed it more than I expected. I feel like Magome is a one-time destination because of its size, but I definitely want to come back and stay at sakanomichi again!

THE MACHIYA HOTEL TAKAYAMA bevindt zich in Takayama, op 7 minuten lopen van treinstation Takayama, en biedt conciërgediensten, rookvrije kamers, een tuin, gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie en een... Prachtige, stijlvolle ruimtes! Zowel onze kamer als de lounge zijn heel mooi ingericht. Zeer goede bedden en douche. Het ontbijt was erg smakelijk en best fijn om weer eens een westers ontbijt te krijgen. De dame van de receptie was zeer hulpvaardig en vriendelijk en hielp ons bij alle kleine vraagjes die we hadden. We zouden heel graag terugkomen voor een langer verblijf!

A wonderfully appointed apartment with everything (and more) we could have needed. Beautifully decorated, in the heart of the city, easy walking distance from the train station, the temples, the festivals, near all kinds of restaurants, cafes, just a wonderful location.

Shiroyamakan is gelegen in Shirakawa, op 47 km van Openluchtmuseum Hida Minzoku Mura, Hida no Sato, en biedt accommodatie met gratis fietsen, gratis privéparkeren en een tuin. From the cozy room and relaxing bath to the delicious meals and city tour, everything was exceptional. The family running the ryokan is incredibly attentive, taking care of every detail with warmth, we felt truly welcomed from start to finish.

Auberge Hidanomori is heropend na renovatie in 2022 en ligt in rustige heuvels, op 10 minuten met de pendeldienst van het JR-station Takayama. Wonderful family run Auberge with beautiful comfy beds overlooking the forest. Lovely baths with gorgeous toiletries. A little out of town but a shuttle is offered for transportation. Fabulous dinner with a very unusual but delicious wine pairings. Breakfasts were delicious.

The house inside everything are new remodeling and comfortable. Top terrace has nice view. Family and groups are recommended.

Utatei Mago is gelegen in Takayama, op 7 minuten lopen van treinstation Takayama, en biedt gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. We loved our stay. Excellent location close to station ;enough space for 5 people , stylish design Staff was excellent, very responsive and hospitable.

左京山SAkyozan is gunstig gelegen in het centrum van Takayama, en biedt gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie, een tuin en gratis privéparkeren. Absolutely fantastic place and we have been to milion of 5-star places. Supercomfortable, clean, spacious and within 3 minute walk to little old streets.

Guest House KANOKO is gelegen op 46 km van Gero Station, en biedt accommodatie in Nakatsugawa met toegang tot een hot tub. Beautiful private house in a charming small town. The owner, like the rest of the locals, were overwhelmingly kind. Kanoko also left us some deer jerky from their hunting, which was absolutely delicious.
