Nestled in the rolling hills of San Diego County, La Mesa is a charming city known for its quaint downtown, tree-lined streets, and unique character. Surrounded by outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and shopping, it offers a perfect vacation setting with a nearly perfect climate and family-friendly experiences. La Mesa, dubbed the "Jewel of the Hills," features abundant hiking and urban trails. Just 5 minutes away is Mission Trails Regional Park, home to Cowles Mountain and Lake Murray. The park spans over 8,000 acres, with 60 miles of trails, and the lake offers swimming and boat rentals. Cowles Mountain, at 1,591 feet, is the highest point within San Diego city limits. On a clear day, you can see the ocean, Mexico, and across San Diego County from the summit. The trailhead, located 1.7 miles away at Navajo and Golfcrest, offers a three-mile round trip with a 1,000-foot elevation gain and loss. Expect no shade but stunning vistas.
