My husband and I have owned our beach haven for nearly 20 years. We have 3 children aged 22, 19 and 18 (not kids anymore!). We are both self-employed. I am an ex Nurse and own a Beauty Business. My husband has a Wood burner Installation business, which he has managed with his business partner for over 30 years now, they have built a lot of what you will see at our property.
We love Raglan and are both very keen on fishing on the West Coast. We belong to Raglan Sport Fishing Club, for over 15 years now, and we have certainly caught some big Snapper!
I will show you around when you arrive, and then leave you to enjoy your stay.
It takes approx 20 minutes to do an easy walk to town either along the main road, or along Marine Parade & over the foot bridge. We are very close to Ngarunui Beach a couple of minutes drive up the road, then Manu Bay - the world famous left hand break, then Whale Bay, plus access to the mouth of the harbour is also a quick 3 minute drive away, or walk/cycle along the path.
If you continue on for approx 15 min from Whale Bay up Whaanga Road (partly gravel) you can go to the lookout at Te Toto Gorge. This historically significant site boasts stunning & uninterrupted views of the rugged West Coast.
About 20 minutes out of Raglan heading back towards Hamilton beautiful Bridal Veil Falls is most definitely worth the short 10 min walk through Native bush to the two viewing platforms at the top, then steep steps lead you to the bottom of these breath taking falls with another magnificent view directly across the pool and up at the falls.
Another must do is a Harbour sunset Cruise onboard the Wahine Moa. Cruise among the marine wildlife, ancient limestone formations and beautiful coastline, this 90 minute boat trip includes a Fish n Chip meal and has a licensed bar.
Plus our recycling centre is a couple of km's up the next road on the left from ours, and they have an amazing shop full of second hand treasures and bargains called Kahu's Nest.
Most of our street are permanent residents. Our neighbors on either side are permanent. Our street is generally very quiet & as it is a no exit there is minimal road noise. Plus we are located in Raglan West over the bridge leading to the main Surf beach and Manu Bay, so we tend not to get the 'town' noise.
At night from the caravan & on the deck you can usually hear the waves crashing at the entrance into the harbour. Its a very peaceful, private hideaway, which we love and we are sure you will too.
