Welcome to Mermaid Waterways Homestay – Your Canal-Front Escape in Whitianga
Tucked away in the stunning Whitianga Waterways, Mermaid Waterways offers a peaceful and private getaway with direct access to picturesque canal views and relaxing outdoor spaces.
We have three spacious private rooms, each completely separate from our main home. While the rooms themselves are not directly on the waterfront, you’re only a few steps away from enjoying beautiful views of the canal and full access to our inviting outdoor decking areas.
🛏 Your Private Room Includes:
• A generously sized room with a super-comfortable Super King bed
• A private ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower
• A mini fridge, small table & chairs, and desk
• Your own private entrance – fully lockable for peace of mind
🍽 Shared Guest Amenities:
• A cozy kitchenette (please note: no sink or stovetop due to government regulations)
• Equipped with:
o Microwave
o Large fridge/freezer
o Espresso machine
o Complimentary tea/coffee and Continental breakfast which includes Cereals, fruit, yoghurt & spreads
• Use of our Weber BBQ available on request
🌞 Outdoor Leisure:
Relax on our spacious canal-front decks, the perfect place to unwind with a book or glass of wine. For a bit of fun, try our 6-hole mini putt course, or take a paddle in one of our two kayaks, complete with life jackets – ideal for exploring the scenic waterways.
🐶 Meet Riley:
We share our home with Riley, our friendly 16-year-old Spoodle. He’s an indoor dog who keeps to his own space on the other side of the house but is always happy for a gentle hello

Whitianga is a popular tourist destination with favorite places to visit nearby Cafes,Restaurants a 5 min drive or visit our local Buffalo Beach or Simpsons Beach. Cathederal Cove, Boat trips, Fishing Trips, Diving trips, sailing trips, Hot Water Beach, Opito Bay, New Chums Beach, Cooks Beach, The Lost Springs Thermal Hot Pools, Mercury Bay Museum, Mini Golf, Mercury Bay winery, just to name a few.
Whitianga also has its own Airport which is a 5 min drive away and we are happy to pick you up.
You can catch a flight from Barrier airlines which operate from Auckland domestic airport and take a scenic 20 min flight to Whitianga. See their webpage for charges.
There are tours also available from Go Kiwi Shuttles to different parts of the Coromandel. They also offer they also offer pick ups from Auckland Domestic & International terminals daily. See the website of charges.?
