Teach Cruachán has all the comforts of home, and it's in a stunning location overlooking the ocean on the Wild Atlantic Way. Built as a stone cottage for Michael’s grannie over 100 years ago -he was actually born in the room that’s now the kitchen - it has been imaginatively extended and regularly upgraded over its life as a B&B for the past 38 years. In the next chapter of its life, starting in March 2025, it will be a self-catering holiday home catering for larger groups of up to 12 family members and/or friends in five rooms with TV and ensuite shower & toilet (Room 2 & Room 3 share a Jack & Jill ensuite between them.) The living/dining space overlooks the ocean, and just off it is the lounge with log-burning stove. We have made sure you will have everything you need to be cozy and comfortable. Price includes all utilities (gas/electricity/water) and logs for burning (subject to a generous fair usage policy), free one day’s standard bicycle hire for the group, a welcome hamper of local goods. We, the owners, live in a fully self-contained apartment next door with a separate entrance and utilities (gas, electricity, etc). We are available to answer any questions you might have, and you only need to ring/text us.

We love meeting people and introducing them to Achill Island - our little bit of heaven! We try to make your stay memorable, so we are available with any information you need if you drop us a text. We live in a separate adjoining apartment so if you’re having a problem it can be dealt with promptly. We've been married for 42 years and we're still speaking to each other, so we make a good team :)

Dooagh Village is the gateway to the iconic Keem Bay, one of the Signature Discovery Points on the Wild Atlantic Way and site of an old basking shark fishery, and it’s only 5 minutes away, at the end of R319. We are within walking distance of three pubs, a restaurant and a gourmet shop with great coffee and gelato. A short stroll will bring you to the dock, where you can often see the resident dolphins and visiting basking sharks (you can actually see them from the living room too). Keel is only 3km away. The Dooagh National Looped Walk starts just 40m from the house, and the linear trail to Slievemore’s Deserted Village and Archaeological Trail starts only 60m away. You can make this into a loop by coming home through Keel and Pollagh villages. Croaghaun Mountain is home to the highest sea cliffs in Western Europe, the lowest corrie lake in Europe, an amethyst quarry, Captain Boycott’s residences at Keem and Corrymore, the site of a tragic weather plane crash, the location of Ireland’s last breeding pair of golden sea eagles, elusive wild goats, and hundreds of black-faced mountain sheep.
