The location is 10mins walk from the train and bus station. The facility is very clean, and they have lot of common space (check bottom and top floor) available if you choose a dormitory bed or small room. I stayed in a single small room and I had a balcony view. The staff is very helpful, and they try their best to keep the space comfortable. You will have to take out your shoes and there is ample number of sleepers available. Every floor has a coin laundary available. They have huge common washbasin sinks to do your business. The common washroom cleanliness was satisfactory.

The property is set 7.3 km from Otsumago, 8.5 km from Kotoku-ji Temple and 8.5 km from Sekibutsu Kanzan Jittoku Statue. The inn provides a hot tub and luggage storage space. I'm afraid my words will not be enough to express how much I loved my stay here. Kenさん and Yukiさん were extremely welcoming. I enjoyed my conversations with them, learning about Magome-juku, umeshu, and many other things despite my very lacking Japanese skills. When it was time for me to leave and embark on my hike to Tsumago-juku, they ran after me to give me a bottle of iced water to help me with the summer heat. I almost teared up from their kindness. I was on a solo trip for my birthday and they gave me the most memorable moment of my trip. Other things to note about this guesthouse: Room: I'm not sure about the other rooms but I secured the best one. It had an amazing view of Magome-juku. There is only a futon but it was very comfortable. The room is air-conditioned and although not sound-proof, Magome is quiet and you can hear the peaceful sounds of water flowing through the canals at night. Shared spaces: The shared spaces include the dining area, living area, toilets, showers, and an indoor bath. There is also a laundry area which you can use for a small fee (about 500 yen if I'm not mistaken). Reception is not 24/7 and the lights out is at 10pm I think. The shared spaces are not only clean, but they're also beautifully designed! Lots of dried flowers as decoration. Meals: You can opt to have dinner and breakfast here again for a small fee. Dinner is Indian curry and let me just say-- it was delicious! I had the spicy chicken keema, although personally I wish it was a bit spicier. The homemade yogurt was simply amazing. Breakfast is a simple spread of eggs, bread, yogurt, cereals, a variety of fruits, and drinks such as homemade juice and coffee from the coffee shop down the street. This was again very good and I enjoyed it more than I expected. I feel like Magome is a one-time destination because of its size, but I definitely want to come back and stay at sakanomichi again!

The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed, but what really made our experience special was the hospitality of the owner. They went above and beyond by picking us up from the station when we arrived and even taking us back on our last day, helping with our luggage and giving us a lovely send-off. It made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Such kindness and care are rare to find – highly recommend staying here!
Nozawa Onsen
At the guest house, all units are fitted with a tatami. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. At the guest house, each unit includes bed linen and towels. Hosts: absolutely wonderful - Taiki and team were extremely helpful and consistently went the extra mile to make our stay great, and everyone is really nice and fun to chat to; we couldn't have asked for more. Room: Clean, warm, spacious, quiet, and shower was amazing; high bed meant suitcases could be slid under it and stored out of the way. Facilities: the best drying room in any ski lodge or hotel I've ever stayed in, items left in the drying room overnight were bone dry the next morning with no mustiness; kitchen and main lounge great also. Location: close to shuttle bus to main gondola, 10m walk from town centre; hosts also drive guests up to gondola in the morning and onsen across the road for which hotel supply towels. Overall, highly recommend.

Translation app overcame that barrier. A stocked fridge and comprehensive facilities made my stay very enjoyable. I was able to cook a simple meal, and do some laundry without having to leave the guesthouse in the heavy snow! The cherry on top was the owner driving me to the dinosaur museum in the morning. Very unexpected but much appreciated.

Love this place , older style japanese inn. So many cool features . Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Beautiful Onsen , amazing Japanese breakfast ( which they make small changes to each day of you stay longer ). Great hosts , loads of interesting objects and art. They also have some local products for sale. Its super quiet space , very relaxing. One of my favourite spots ive stayed in japan . Theres also a handful of good restaurants within minutes - walking .
Good guesthouse in a 100 year old traditional japanese machiya. Quiet neighbourhood near city center.
Old Japanese house in the middle of the countryside, so very quiet and soothing. Hiro was a great host, and the facilities are very comfortable and complete, with kitchen, lobby, bike rental, etc. Well situated and clean.
An authentic Japanese experience. Great breakfast can be ordered. A small Onsen in the property. A quiet location with a Konbini and restaurants nearby. The Inn is in the suburbs far from the city centre but there is a bus stop on the main road with attached timetable so it is easy to get into the station area. Very friendly and obliging Host and Hostess but be aware no English is spoken so a little Japanese language knowledge goes a long way.
It’s a quiet location, which is nice. First time in years that I have slept without earplugs. Good to know: you can not bathe at the guesthouse. I was a bit scared of using the Onsen at first, but ended up loving it. The hosts are such nice people. They made my stay even better, thank you so much.
Lovely guesthouse run by a small family in a quiet street of Fujikawaguchiko. The host is very hospitable and although he speaks little english, he is good with technology and will help you out wherever he can. He prepared a welcome snack and drink when you check in. The tatami room is clean and spacious and if you are lucky, comes with a view of Mt Fuji. The bathroom is traditional and has a bath which is prepared for you every night. The location is around 20min walk from the main train station and is close to local shops.
Terumi-san is a wonderful host who called a dozen bike shops to help me find the right spare part that would allow me to continue my cycling journey. I was amazed she would do that for me. I loved the guest house too, traditional style tatami room, all facilities a solo teaveller needs too, quiet neighbourhood and supermarket nearby.
Very lovely guest house with a great host. Pleasant change to the usual choice of more or less soulless hotels if you want something more unique. I visited for a couple of days to see Kanazawa. Would definitely choose this accommodation again. Medium-duration walk to the city centre.
Nanjo is a great host and made us feel very welcome. He also picked us up and dropped us back to Hakuba station - greatly appreciated when your carrying a lot of snow gear. Accomodation is very quaint and in a quiet area. Private onsen was fantastic after a hard day skiing.
