All rooms at Ouka Guest House have air conditioning and heating. A shared bath room is located on the ground floor. The location is 10mins walk from the train and bus station. The facility is very clean, and they have lot of common space (check bottom and top floor) available if you choose a dormitory bed or small room. I stayed in a single small room and I had a balcony view. The staff is very helpful, and they try their best to keep the space comfortable. You will have to take out your shoes and there is ample number of sleepers available. Every floor has a coin laundary available. They have huge common washbasin sinks to do your business. The common washroom cleanliness was satisfactory. I have no complaints from my three nights stay here.

We loved Ken and Yuki’s hospitality! They have a precious house in a privileged location with amazing facilities. They were keen to help with anything we needed and were proactive on helping us with our travel plans. The food is also something worth mentioning, they cook delicious meals with locally produced products.

At the guest house, every unit is fitted with a tatami, a flat-screen TV and a shared bathroom. The units are equipped with heating facilities.

Mount Fuji is 29 km from the guest house, while Oshijuutaku Togawa and Osano’s House is 5.9 km from the property. Tokyo Haneda Airport is 116 km away. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. The room was exceptional. The manager was the best and went above and beyond for our small request.

At the guest house, all units are fitted with a tatami. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. At the guest house, each unit includes bed linen and towels. * Superb view from the common area * tatami mat with normal bed * DIY breakfast with provided bread/eggs/jam was fantastic * Rooms were warm and had enough space for luggage * complimentary ride to the ski slopes + they even offered a ride with our luggage to our following accommodation in Nozawa (would have preferred to stay here if they had availability)

Among the various facilities are a garden, a bar, as well as a shared lounge. The guest house features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This was such an unforgettable experience. We were supposed to stay for just one night but ended up staying 4! Okay, from the beginning. We had different accommodation in Hakuba, but we weren’t satisfied so we were looking for something else and found Dark Horse by chance. The moment we walked into the house, we were greeted with smiles and warmth. Andy, Rika, Momo and Hana create something truly special. We’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and such, but this one will stay in our hearts for a long time. Everything is well thought out, you can see it’s taken care of down to the smallest detail, you can see it’s done properly and not just to be the cheapest. We felt so beautifully hosted. They also have an amazing sake collection to try, and the food is delicious too. Thank you again and we already miss it. I hope we’ll get the chance to meet again. PS. If you’re wondering whether to book a room at Dark Horse, don’t hesitate!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The property is set 31 km from Fukui International Activities Plaza, 33 km from Fukui Prefecture Industrial Hall and 1.4 km from Echizen Daibutsu. The property offers soundproof units and is situated 31 km from Phoenix Plaza. Staying at the Guesthouse is a must if you go to Katsuyama and visit the dinosaur museum, especially if you have children, even older ones. The stay enhanced the experience. As other reviews have attested, I confirm the hospitality the owners provided us and went beyond our expectations. Many people will visit the museum as a day trip. However, I highly recommend staying overnight if you are a Japanese national with children or, like me, an international tourist.
