It is really a beautiful place

We had an amazing two night stay here at the end of our time in Sri Lanka. The food was incredible, especially the fish salad:). They hooked us up with a tuktuk driver to get us to Sigiriya Rock in the morning, then a Naturalist for an afternoon park tour to see elephants. The safari tour was incredible value and we saw lots and lots of elephants. We enjoyed a morning at the spa as our treat to ourselves before heading off to Kandy then the airport. It also was amazing and we walked out of there feeling like jello. The facilities are brand new, gorgeous, clean and well thought out. The location overlooking the lake in the private mango grove is very peaceful. The staff are helpful and laid back. I knew coming to Sri Lanka that there is a different dynamic vs Canada when it comes to women, and I certainly didn’t come with any intention of imposing my Canadian values here. However, being at this women managed and staffed hotel was a nice change during the trip where I felt like I could speak up and answer questions ahead of my partner without them looking to him for confirmation. Would 100% stay again and highly recommend.

The rooms are completely renovated. The dinner was absolutely delicious - we don't regret one bit for not going out for dinner to the city for our 1 night stay. Looks like they plan to do even more renovations outside. Surely recommended!

All, clean, large room, and an excellent breakfast

🥇 TOP HOST!! We are a group of 5 catalans who stayed in two accommodations, one of which was up in a tree. The experience has been fabulous, perhaps the best lodging in Sri Lanka. Both houses were super clean, humble but very beautiful ✨ The surroundings were wild, and all you could hear were birds. We saw several animals. The gentleman was always super attentive in every way. He prepared some amazing lunches for us and even better dinners. The owner cooked for us on the spot, and honestly, a 10!! It was delicious (one of the best places we’ve tried), tailored to our taste (in our case, without spice), and featuring typical local dishes. Plus, the price was always very fair; at no point did we feel overcharged (there are many places that jack up prices when you’re a tourist). A must-stay accommodation if you’re in the area!! 💯

A Truly Restorative Wellness Retreat Our second stay at Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort in Sigiriya again was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by the peace, nature, and genuine warmth from the staff. The setting is breathtaking — lush greenery, v tranquil views, and an atmosphere that instantly makes you slow down. Our suite was expansive and tranquil, with a huge, comfortable bed, a spa-like bathroom, and a private plunge pool overlooking the forest canopy. Mornings began with birdsong and soft sunlight filtering through the trees. There’s no rush here — just space to breathe, rest, and rediscover stillness. The Ayurvedic treatments were outstanding. The resident doctor was kind and attentive, and each therapy was tailored to our needs. The therapists were professional, skilled, and genuinely caring — every session left us feeling lighter and completely relaxed. The food was light, fresh, and nourishing, aligned with Ayurvedic principles. It’s not indulgent dining, but every meal felt like part of the wellness journey — balanced, beautiful, and made with care it perfectly complements the wellness philosophy of the resort. A special mention must go to the staff, who were exceptional throughout our stay. They truly go above and beyond — warm, attentive, and respectful, without ever being intrusive. Every detail, from the herbal teas to the evening turn-down service, felt thoughtful and intentional. We were surprised every time with the location of our b/fast and diners. A heartfelt thank you to Lackshan, who was wonderful with our little boy — he played with him, kept him engaged, and made sure he never felt bored. It meant so much to us and made our stay even more special. This is not a place for nightlife or crowds it’s designed for peace, rest, and self-care. If you’re looking for a luxury wellness retreat in Sri Lanka where you can truly unwind and reconnect with yourself, Ayugiri is a gem.
