We stayed in Shion room which was really special with a stove in the living room, a foot bath room and indoor bath.
The outdoor public bath was really good too, and not crowded at all in the morning.
The service provided by all the staff was very welcoming, making us feel relax and comfortable. Really enjoy the stay.

A charming place. Excellent Japanease style interiors. Quite and clean. Superb dinner and breakfast. Relaxing Onsen on site.
A nice short walk though the village - some old houses, other ryokan and the river in the middle.

Absolutely gorgeous place: a small cabin in the woods, very comfy and spacious, with a lovely indoor bath. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the dinner was abundant and excellent (the shabu-shabu beef was amazing), as well as the breakfast.
We had a really lovely stay and would have loved to stay more!!

Excellent and friendly service from beginning to end. Room was very clean, the different baths were wonderful. It was the first time I’ve tried an onsen where I could stand up; it was 1.3m deep. There are private baths available too. Loved the welcome snack which was rice cookies using rice which the ryokan grows - I bought a bag home. The lack of hot water during winter didn’t bother me at all, in fact I prefer the warm water jug that was provided. The ryokan is near a bridge over the river for a good photo spot. It’s also near a restaurant with very good Akaushi beef. We had taken a bus to Kurokawa; the ryokan is fairly near the bus stop, though there is a long flight of steps down, which I managed to lug the luggage down. After check out, the staff offered to help with the luggage up the stairs to the bus stop.

We slept in a room with a private bath, the views to the river from the balcony were fantastic. The hotel has a beautiful Japanese design, the dinner was one of the best we had in Japan. Everything was perfect.
