I can’t remember the name of the man who owns Roku Roku but he was amazing. Made sure we had everything we needed & waited up late for our late arrival. The room was spacious and clean.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming traditional-style apartment in Kyoto. The space beautifully combines tradition and comfort, offering the option of sleeping on Western-style beds or tatami mats. The interior is thoughtfully decorated with lovely accents, including an adorable and unique sofa downstairs that added so much character. It’s clear that a lot of care and personal touches went into creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The apartment was well-equipped for the colder weather, with heating on both floors and even a heated carpet downstairs, making it cozy and comfortable throughout our stay. However, it’s worth noting that the stairs to the upper floor are steep and narrow, which could pose a challenge for guests with mobility concerns or those who may require more spacious access.
Overall, staying here was a brilliant experience that truly allowed us to immerse ourselves in the Kyoto lifestyle. We highly recommend it for anyone looking for an authentic and memorable place to stay in this beautiful city!

We had an amazing time at Yumoto Onsen. It was our first time staying at a Ryokan and we were a bit nervous about following the correct procedures and being respect. However we need not have worried as the staff explained everything to us. The baths were very relaxing with glimpses of the neighbouring forest. The dinner and breakfast was delicious, and the tables overlook the beautiful garden which is home to the very cute Shibu Inu, Taro!

Due to my work I have to stay in Hotels often. Marikoji Inn feels more like a home and I could get much better rest. Located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood away from the main tourist attractions, you can recharge after an intense day.

We had a lovely stay at this modern hotel, which offers both Western and traditional Japanese-style rooms. We chose one of the Japanese rooms and found it very comfortable and well-appointed.
The staff were especially helpful and kind — they went out of their way to assist us with booking local restaurants that only accept reservations by phone. While the hotel doesn’t offer a luggage posting service directly, they recommended a nearby convenience store that does and even helped us fill in the forms. They also accept luggage deliveries, which was very convenient for us.
The location is another big plus: it’s tucked away in a quiet area, yet still within walking distance of Gion and other popular spots. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful but well-connected stay in Kyoto.
