The property location was perfect, so close to everything, but particularly close to the things we were most interested in visiting while in Matera. The hosts were super friendly, and so helpful. The room is a typical and charming Sassi. It is very clean and the bathroom new; the shower was also great. All the staff are very polite and available for any question! The location is perfect, you can walk anywhere and see everything from there. Even so, the room was very quiet — we couldn’t hear any noise from outside. They also helped us with parking, which was incredibly convenient! The breakfast was amazing.

The location was tricky to get to, but that is not the hotel's fault. They are accessible only by foot due to the way the ancient town was built. I received excellent recommendations from the hotel about parking for our rental car. There is a secure parking building about 15 minutes walk away that cost 20 euro per day, although this is not the only option. The reception staff were excellent and organised for our luggage to be taken to our room - much appreciated considering the cobbled paths around the hotel. The room was large, quiet and well appointed. The included continental breakfast was adequate and the spa facilities were a nice addition.

L'Hotel In Pietra offers unique rooms set in the Matera Sassi area, a UNESCO site. All rooms and suites have free Wi-Fi and a laptop is available on request. Breakfast is buffet style.

We had a lovely one night stay in the queen suit after a last minute decision to extend our stay in Matera. The suit is very spacious with stunning views from every window. The service was great! Even though we booked it so late minute, the owners helped with check in as soon as possible and offered to assist us with tours and restaurant recommendations and reservations. The shower and bed were very comfortable. It was lovely to have a drink/breakfast on the little patio, staring at the gorgeous sassi. It has all the amenities for a very comfortable stay, including a hair dryer, much-needed air conditioning and small coffee/breakfast station with toast and jam, juice, water and coffee. The location is fantastic, near all the main sights. I would however advise to pack light as there are still a few steps that you need to take and the steers of Matera are quite slippery. Just note, as advertised there is no WiFi in the rooms, only the reception area. Just note that the Google maps location is wrong. Thankfully the owners will arrange to meet you at a meeting point and take you to the accommodation.
