From Tsubakino Hotel it is a 40-minute drive to Jigokudani Monkey Park, as well as to the Hokusai-kan Museum in Obuse Town. The staff were amazing and made the stay very memorable. The accommodation was outstanding value offering a large clean Japanese style room and an exceptional breakfast, the location is perfect for snow monkey park visit. Recommend booking the private Onsen and visiting the Sake bar. This property is very easy to access from Tokyo via Shinkansen to Nagano and then local train (200m walk to hotel). There are plenty of transport options within town to visit snow monkeys and lots of great dining options.

It was 12 minutes walking distance to the train station, although they still offered shuttle services.

Some hot spring baths can be rented for private use. The property is a 15-minute bus ride from JR Matsumoto Station, and a 10-minute bus ride to the national treasure, Matsumoto Castle. Free parking is available. Loved the traditional ryokan style and incredible onsen. The meals were delicious and all served in private dining rooms - Japanese style. Lovely staff.
