The location is very good. It is in the beginning of old town, so taxi can drop you infront of the hotel, bringing the luggage is not a problem. All the staff are very very nice, helpful and kind. They will do their best to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Kalon minoret is very near within walking distance. This hotel is definitely recommended.

Highly enjoyable. Too bad we arrived way too late to fully appreciate it. Loved the ambience, nice decor, helpful staff, nice spread of breakfast. Located not on the main street to the old city attractions but short walking distance. Given the chance, I’d absolutely come back and stay again!

I had an amazing time at this accommodation. Rented the single room for four nights. A really nice family is managing the place and the kids also work here, which I find really impressive. It is a small place, maybe 4 rooms. Really quiet and clean in the middle of the old city. You can reach any major touristic site on foot in maximum 20-25 minutes. But most are within a 10-minute radius. Bigger supermarket is about 20 minutes on foot. I have asked the hotel to arrange a taxi for me when I arrived to avoid the haggling at the train station. I paid 60 000 som. Back to the station, the taxi was 20 000 som. Breakfast is excellent. I think, the owner decided to fatten me up. I got so much food for breakfast, that I could not finish it, and regularly skipped lunch. Bear in mind, that sweet pastries are completely normal for breakfast in this region, so if you are more health conscious and want to avoid empty calories, remember to ask for eggs and cheese. The owner is extremely kind, and just wants to make sure that you are happy. Kids speak basic English, I had fund talking to them. With the lady of the house, we used google translate. Everything went smoothly. Would return any time.

We arrived in Bukhara after Khiva and were worried that it wouldn't be as good. But it's amazing!!! We were also lucky to visit during the “Bukhara Biennial” (https://www.bukharabiennial.uz/). A must-see.

Our 2025 Bradt guidebook claimed Bukhara to be the cultural...

Our 2025 Bradt guidebook claimed Bukhara to be the cultural jewel of Uzbekistan and they were right. We were fortunate in that we visited during their first “Bukhara Biennial, a new contemporary initiative taking place from September 5th to November 20th, 2025 across newly restored historic landmarks in the city of Bukhara, a UNESCO Creative City of Craft & Folk Art”, resulting in many of the sights being adorned with modern art and installations including by our own Anthony Gormley! I think this had an influence on the visitors as the city had an almost bohemian feel to it. A very friendly and happy place. We were also fortunate to have a Saturday night dinner at Joy Chaikhana Lounge which was simply fabulous. We enjoyed Bukhara a lot more than Tashkent, Samarkand and Khiva, although it’s hard to make a fair comparison.

I visited the city for the Centural Asia Art Biennale.

I visited the city for the Centural Asia Art Biennale. The city is rich with ancient histories and middle aged buildings. They have full tourism services everywhere such as beautiful restuarants. But the old ruines of Madrasas, Mosques. and the old Bazaars are very beautiful. The Ark you shouldnt forget to pay 60,000 -80,000 sum for the entrance. But it is worthy to visit one time in life time.

The city is a gem!

The city is a gem! All the gorgeous buildings are close enough together to save walking too much in the hot sun. Apart from the citadel, all the buildings are free, without the outrageous "tourist discount" (i.e. surcharge) of Thailand and especially India. I gave Bukhara four days, and that felt just about right. The only downside is the location of the Kagan/Bukhara railway station (15 km), but a Yandex Go taxi (the local equivalent of Grab or Uber) only costs 25,000-30,000 som (a tad over 2 dollars) provided you have a local SIM in your phone. A bargain!

Bukhara was a great place to visit.

Bukhara was a great place to visit. We had a personal guided walking tour, which was well worth the money we paid. There is so much to see in the town. I would highly recommend visiting here. It was very hot in the afternoons, otherwise we would have done more. Excellent restaurants in the town.

Bukhara is one of my all-time favorite places to visit.

Bukhara is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. Over the past 20 years, it has been spruced up a lot, almost to the point of loosing that air of ancient place - but it is more comfortable to walk due to brand new pavements everywhere and wide roads. During my visit, the city was prepping for the independence day celebration, and some places were closed or scaffolded for renovation, which i found very annoying. Overall, prices are very affordable; but i wish staff at historical sites were a bit more professional. Overall, the experience was that everyone was trying to make money above all.

The hotel is in a stunning location, looking out onto the Kalon minaret and mosque and within easy walking distance of all the main sights. The room was comfortable, with good air conditioning and a fridge, which was important as it was very hot while we were there. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the hotel is very beautifully decorated with traditional Uzbek hangings and artefacts. The breakfast was wonderful - lots of delicious dishes! The best place we have stayed in Uzbekistan. We would thoroughly recommend it.

The best place we stayed in our 8 days in Uzbekistan. The hotel is magical and like we are transported back to the old days of the Silk Road. The family running it are very friendly and helpful and even cut us some cucumber to feed to their pet tortoise who was wandering around the courtyard. Location is in the heart of Khiva. Whenever we return to Bukhara we will stay here.
