The place is absolutely wonderful, the staff is lovely and they make you feel at home. If you want to do excursions like a tour in the ancient city or a safari: they will arrange it and they make sure you have everything you’ll need. The chef also makes delicious meals. Maho was our best stay in Sri Lanka within 4 weeks. Large rooms, great sanitairy, and a lovely bed with pillows feeling like clouds.

Sampath village was an absolute delight! The room and facilities were pristinely clean and comfortable, outfitted with thoughtful touches like a tea kettle and luggage rack. They let me do a much-needed load of laundry, including a dryer so no need to wait a week for clothes to dry in the humidity. The free bikes were fantastic for exploring the beautiful city. The manager Shan was a godsend - he helped so much to arrange taxis, travel, and even a safari for me and a group of other guests - and he even woke up before sunrise to prepare breakfast for us when we went! He went above and beyond in every way and made my stay both easy and unforgettable.

I had a lovely stay at Residence by Amaya. The place is peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the room was spacious and comfortable. It truly felt like a home away from home. I’d definitely love to come back!

Nimal was really nice, hospitable and always willing go an extra mile, anything you need he will find it. He arrange a bicycle for free and went to see the temples around. Also companied me to see the sunset in his bike. He is a good man will take you to eat at local and cheap places. Thanks 😊

Great location behind the main street but quiet (except when a occasional train goes by). Looks nicely renovated and the staff were really lovely and helpful. Room was simple but clean, stairs into the bathroom are a bit steep. Aircon worked well.

Anuradhapura is an amazing and spiritual place.

Anuradhapura is an amazing and spiritual place. It's different from the other sites in Sri Lanka because it still attracts so many pilgrims to its religious sites. It's a good idea to dedicate one day to visiting the active pilgrimage sites and the next to the historical sites, for which you need a ticket. Remember to cover up with long trousers and sleeves and don't forget your socks, because the ground is really hot and you have to take off your shoes everywhere. If you have an extra day, you can also return to the sites at night, which is when pilgrims light candles. Make sure you've got the Pick Me app installed and look out for a tuk tuk driver called Nisha. He's absolutely amazing: great driver, kind and attentive and with good English. For dinner, the atmospheric Hotel Shalini is a good bet. The Seedevi family restaurant is another good place. If you want to have a beer, they can put you in a separate 'family' room, or you can go to the tiny 'pub' next door.

It is one of the best locations, slightly hot and humid, but if you love history and sightseeing, you cannot miss this location, further you can travel to multiple historic locations from here, we travelled to Mihinthale Temple and Mahiyangana, the drive was scenic, but Mihinthale will take your breath.

Anuradhapura, one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, is a treasure trove of ancient history that stretches back to the 4th century BCE. Established by King Pandukabhaya, it served as the majestic capital of Sri Lanka for over a millennium, playing a pivotal role in the island's Buddhist heritage and cultural evolution. The arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, introduced by Mahinda Thera in the 3rd century BCE, marked a transformative era for Anuradhapura. This led to the creation of awe-inspiring stupas, monastic complexes, and elaborate water reservoirs that showcase the ingenuity of the time. Central to this transformation is the revered Sri Maha Bodhi tree, a sapling believed to have been taken from the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, which continues to be a powerful pilgrimage site. Anuradhapura flourished as a vibrant hub of trade, culture, and religion. Its stunning architecture, exemplified by monumental structures like the Ruwanwelisaya and the Jetavanaramaya, reflects the extraordinary vision and craftsmanship of its builders—each stone telling a story of devotion, power, and artistry. Amazing history of the city and its fantastic old and newer...

Amazing history of the city and its fantastic old and newer temples. Thoroughly enjoyed our Sri Lanka traditional cooking experience, a must do in Anuradhapura. Wildlife park was great with many different animals and birds, but didn’t seem to be large numbers of animals.

One of the best places you find around the Anuradhapura town if you are looking for a peaceful place around the sacred city. Very very friendly staff in an amazing hotel that has a sort of spa/wellness center vibe. We immediately felt relaxed. We had a really clean and spacious room with a garden view. Towels are provided at the pool and in the evening the food is yum! The staff also allowed us to use the pool after our Anuradhapura city tour even though we'd passed our check-out time. With the heat on some Sri Lankan days, this was especially nice before travelling to Sigiriya.

When we arrived at the location, they had already given our rooms to other people. They told us the reason was that we hadn't paid in advance. As a user of the Booking.com app, I never pay in advance for hotels. They scolded us and didn't show any respect to their own customers. I don't recommend a place like this.

The rooms we got were great and the services from owners Kanchi and Supun even better. The setting of the homestay is quiet and beautiful. We had a fantastic cooking class with Kanchi and Supun guided us to Wilpattu Ntl Park, the Ancient City and the other sites around Anuradhapura. All at very reasonable prices.
