We revisited the Whitesands Resort & Spa after 34 years when we stayed for our honeymoon. The staff not only recognised our wedding anniversary but celebrated it with us by extra touches throughout our stay - dressed deserts at dinner, etc. The over-whelming theme of the staff is one of professionalism, friendly and extreme politeness. Serena Beach Resort - Firstly the warm welcome from the Staff was a nice touch. Came in on a really early flight and was accommodated. Everything explained about the resort. The team changing out the rooms each day were meticulous in their duties, bathrooms, floors all nice an clean. Bedrooms were turned down each evening Site was clean and well looked after. Access to the Beach was great, an excellent place to relax for a few days

Definitely do the tour of Fort Jesus and hire a local, official guide. Be prepared that this is a largely Islamic culture. Gentlemen covering knees and women covering shoulders is a thing. Also, alcohol is not as commonly available as other cities. There is a street food tour that is fabulous. Highly recommend. Very informative.

Mombasa has amazing beaches and it takes you back in time (old town) while Nyali has stunning beaches and a different vibe. Its safe and secured, people are friendly. This was my 2nd time to visit Mombasa.

We were looking for a family holiday by the sea and can...

We were looking for a family holiday by the sea and can thoroughly recommend Mombasa. The apartment was on Lido beach which suited us perfectly and found a local taxi driver to take us to attractions such as Haller Park and Wild Water (water slides). The city is busy and there's significant work being done to the roads. So expect the occasional jam and some very bumby roads. In July the temp was just under 30 degrees C and there was a refeshing breeze from the south to temperate this. That also seemed to keep the mosquitoes at bay. We were pleasantly surprised to find some very good restaurants (e.g. CJ's near Wild Water - good food and good service). We didn't sample the night life nor take a safari to Amboseli - something for next time!

Interesting city.

Interesting city. Lots of attractions for visitors - a wide range of hotels, beaches and activities for people of all ages. Traffic can get crazy during rush hours so plan your movements with this in mind.

A lovely break from the hustle and bustle of Addis Ababa. Short, direct flight, at reasonable prices, perfect for a long weekend escape. Also great for seafood and delicious food that is not available in Ethiopia.

Mombasa is a beautiful city with clean beaches and streets. Was surprised by the cleanliness of the city. Excellent seafood and value for money. Enjoyed food at Tamarind restaurant. As we hired a car for our stay, getting around wasn't an issue. Just have to avoid peak traffic times. Will be definitely going again to explore the place. We felt very safe.

I can only recommend the Sheratton Beach Villagio. The personal were extrem friendly, the room clean and very comfortable. The location by the sea is perfekt. Next to the hotel you can find "Nero Kite Center", the best kitesurfing school ever. My instructor Armani was able to lern how to water start in just three days and i was able to enjoy the feeling of kiting for a short time. I can only say thank you so much for these wonderful great days. Asante sana:)
