We drove the ring road and stayed here for one night. It was our favourite small cottage on a farm we stayed at during our whole trip. You can’t beat the view. The host was friendly and greeted us when we arrived. My daughters LOVED the dogs. They were really good and wouldn’t have come to people who don’t prefer dogs, but we love them and they really enjoyed the belly rubs! The location was the perfect distance from Reykjavik for our first stop after hitting the road. Hope to be back one day!

We found this on a whim because we had gone to the wrong guesthouse so we had to find somewhere else to stay. We were pleasantly surprised! When we pulled up we thought we were at a school until we saw the hotel sign. It ended up being super cool that it was an old school. They had the cafeteria, which is now the dining area and there’s even a gymnasium. The rooms are down what would be normal classroom hallways. We got a room with our own bathroom but you can get a room with no bath cheaper but you share shower and bath like you would in college. The staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating! We ate dinner there, which was fantastic. Breakfast the next morning was good as well. They did our laundry for a fee and had it ready the next morning. They even came and knocked on our door to let us all know that the northern lights were out. Our driving error ended up being and pleasant surprise.

The shared spaces (common room, kitchen and bathrooms) were really good and well furnished. Every was clean and comfortable. We especially loved the hot tub with the view on the mountains. We could cook our own meal.
