Killaloe / Ballina is a beautiful twin town spanning the river Shannon. Great river walks, the old road bridge is now pedestrianised making it easy to go from the Ballina to the Killaloe side and vice versa. There's a variety of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs with indoor and outdoor areas. The Lakeside Hotel Killaloe (on the Ballina side) serves excellent food and drinks. Avoid the Bóruna Gastro Pub for now, it's dirty and the service is poor, could be great with it's rooftop bar but needs a refresh of the property and attitudes. Tuscany Bistro on the Ballina side serves excellent food in with great service Raw Interiors serves great food and coffee on the Killaloe side quirky building and great service

Lovely town with great views of Lough Derg and the Shannon, Enjoyed a lovely boat trip with Killaloe Boat Trip. Without asking they provided water for my dog and invited my kids to steer the boat . Crew were extremely courtious and friendly After we had lunch at Flanagans overling the Shannon. Food was very good.. Killaloe is a super little town with plenty of good pubs serving good food,

Beautiful spot. We stayed for one night.

Beautiful spot. We stayed for one night. The villages are lovely but there is a lot of traffic, however there is a new road and bridge being built. Lots of pubs and restaurants. Easy to walk around. It can be very busy when there is a wedding taking place.

Killaloe is a very attractive village.

Killaloe is a very attractive village. At the moment there is a lot of roadworks which delays you driving around. I have stayed twice and would stay again. Highly recommend the cruise on Lough Derg.

We'd a wonderful time in The Killaloe Hotel… and would hope to return again soon, such a great base, a small place with the best of what Ireland has to offer! That breakfast was amazing, and there was a big gang of us to cater for and all very happy with the great and varied feed! The location is perfect, the views from the dining areas were super and the staff were fabulous too!

So comfortable- absolutely a home away from home - every convenience had been carefully thought through. We were in Killaloe to visit a friend who is in a wheelchair and she came to visit and was pleased by the accessibility of the bathroom and living area. Very easy access and communication. Definitely recommend and will visit again.

I absolutely love this hotel.....it has managed to keep its personal touch throughout the years, something that seems to be slowly disappearing in Ireland. Very helpful and welcoming staff, very clean.....such a pleasure to stay here. I highly recommend Tipperary and Ireland's most welcoming hotel, The Lakeside

Great to have breakfast stuff provided especially the home made Irish bread! And interesting to be almost on the site of the palace of Brian Boru the High King of Ireland. Killaloe was a good place to be.

This is a lovely B&B right on the outskirts of Killaloe. The hosts were attentative, the breakfast was great, and it was an easy walk into Killaloe and Ballina.
