Ubud is the spiritual center of Bali and well worth the visit. The city center is a bit congested but fun to hang out in for sites, cafes, bars, shops and restaurant. Was great staying about 10-15min scooter ride north of the city center. Much quieter and plenty of great cafes & restaurants. The Pyramid of Chi, various waterfalls, and rice terraces were exciting and rewarding visits as well. Be sure to schedule some Yoga and meditation at your hotel or with one of the local spiritual or spa centers.
I used ubud as my base and travelled to various attractions and locations from this place I was able to visit a lot of places by hiring a car and driver for ia number of day using there local knowledge I eat at local restaurants meeting the local people 8nst3ad of using the usual tourist set ups
I've visited ubud few years ago and it was a different experience. This time Ubud felt like a building site, the walk up to the rice fields was crowded with mopeds transporting building materials, overloaded with bricks, cement and 4 meter metal strips! they drive within inches of walkers on the path which took the joy of walking. Traffic was also very busy to get anywhere. I think we'll choose a different destination for future jungle and rice paddy experience
Great place to stay for markets and culture. Need transport to get around but Taxis are so cheap and Grab taxi app a must. So convenient. Day excursions with personal taxi driver in your own time a must too. Over 4 days saw a lot of the island and also squeezed in a lot in a day but with time to spare. Holiday so worth it. One more off my bucket list.
The peaceful Ubud of old has gone, and the artistic centre of Bali, is but a memory!! Regrettably, the Seminyak/Canggu crowd have discovered it, and traffic is terrible, with Jalan Monkey Forest a wall of cars and motorbikes in the evenings. The corner of Jalan Monkey Forest and Jalan Rays rivals the Ginza in Tokyo for crowds!! The main roads from the south, and to Tegalalang, are frequently car parks, with no movement for extended periods. The early morning market along Jln Raya, opposite the palace, is worth a visit, but it's all gone by about 0900, so be early. Restaurants are plentiful, generally good, although I haven't eaten at them all, and probably the best area for concenrated restaurants, is Jln Goutama, also known as Eat Street. I go there for nostalgic reasons, having first visited in 1979, but nowadays stay only one night enroute north coast to Kuta via Kintamani. I do recommend Fair Warung Bale, #6 Jln Sri Wedari, a five minute walk from the palace, as a place to eat. The food is good, great staff, and the reason for their being is that all profits go to providing medical services to the poor!! I eat there at least once every visit.
Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road becomes a practiced art. Pavements are a real problem as they are narrow and badly broken up, tripping hazards are commonplace. The roadside kerbing is much higher than normal so for anyone struggling with any type of walking disability, beware. Basically there are just too many tourists and day trippers which makes for even more traffic and crowding. Feels like I should have come here 25 years ago and would have found a completely different vibe. Taxi journey to and from the airport took two and a half hours through stop-start heavy traffic and a million scooters.
Wahooo effect guaranteed! The Maya villa is a beautiful villa, very well maintained, with a superb view of the rice fields. It offers beautiful volumes while keeping an intimate side. The welcome was just perfect!!! A big thank you to Iluh for her smile and kindness: she was able to meet all our expectations and even more!! A big thank you also to Komang who prepared us every morning the best banana pancake we have ever eaten! So ... do not hesitate to stay in this villa with private pool ... you will not be disappointed
Ubud
Of the 5 apartments/hotels where we stayed during our vacations in Indonesia, this was the cheapest and the one in the best condition, very clean and without humidity smell. It is a new apartment in a good location, close enough to walk to the center and far enough away from the noise of the city. However, the best part was Wayan's family, who welcomed us with great kindness and helped us with everything we needed. Breakfast was not included, but Wayan brought us fruit from his garden and Balinese food.
The property is outside of Ubud center, away from the bustling, but just a 30-minute car ride to the center. There are a few nice hotel restaurants in waking distance with nice jungle and rice field views were lovely. The property is right on the rice field, and the view is outstanding. We admired the workers to harvest the rice from the beginning through the end, which was delightful. It's nice to have a own private pool. The beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped.
A beautiful boutique hotel, that is more like a luxury villa with exceptional service. Impeccably clean with the most gracious staff. Even the smallest suite is large and comfortable. Beautiful pool. Excellent breakfasts and great all-day dining options. Nicely located for walking to the main sites, and the free on-demand shuttle to anywhere in the center of Ubud is a real plus on hot and/or wet days. The best massage is also easily arranged. An overall great value.
Very good breakfast included everyday. The facilities were clean and the staff was amazing! Very intimate feel while staying at the resort as staff was very attentive to our needs/questions. Private pool in our villa was fantastic for after a long hot day. Taxi/Grab was very easy to get around and the hotel had a free shuttle to bring us to and from Ubud Central when needed. Would highly recommend for honeymooning couples or families.
Ubud
Slightly off the main hustle of Ubud center, this magical boutique hotel is perfect. The space is beautiful and quiet - rooms were clean and have plenty of room with an outdoor kitchen. Pool is small but again lovely! Biggest highlight was Juna - he was probably the best host I’ve had at any hotel/villa. Helpful, kind and always smiling. Hotel is walkable to town or a quick motorbike ride away. Safe and secure, quaint and special!
Ubud
The rooms are decorated with style, quite big in size, while the private deck has a really good size private pool. Breakfast was great and always delivered to the villa on time, each morning. A great touch was the evening service, every evening a sweet treat would be there in my room. The staff is great, very responsive by WhatsApp to all needs. Ubud center (Ubud Palace) is about 20 min walking from the hotel.
We booked the 2-bed villa with private pool, which was away from the main hotel and very private. For the price, it was perfect. It was secluded and huge and had the private pool and garden. Staff were available on WhatsApp and incredibly attentive when needed - see below. Loved the massive terrace upstairs, as well as sitting area below. Water dispenser was a grateful inclusion, as was the kettle.
Amazing beautiful villa with private pool in a beautiful jungle-y backyard. Also had an amazing floating breakfast. Really recommend staying here and they even have a free shuttle into ubud and back at set times (although I rec renting a motor bike in ubud). This place is also down the road from many rafting places, so very convenient for rafting. Really really beautiful place, loved everything.
We stayed at Village, it was beautiful, impressive, with private pool, two big bedrooms, main bathroom amazing with bathtub outside, plenty of space and all the decoration superb, felt like sleeping inside a Temple. Ubud art is really good!! Extremely recommend this hotel, the service is top.Location is also very convenient, 300m walking distance from central market.
we stayed in Bali for 3 weeks and this is one of the best villas/ hotels we stayed in -room was spacious - shower & bathroom was 20/10 -bed was comfy - wifi was good - aircon was very powerful - location was good not too far from town via taxi/ grab - staff were very helpful - breakfast was decent - surrounding area was peaceful
Actually, what I liked the most is how respectful this Resort and staff is , for me it was 5 stars not 4 , i really recommend everyone to book with them You have all what you need in this hotel from Spa to restaurant to swimming pool and even Yoga sessions The area is quite and not far from Ubud city center with Scooter or Car
Quiet and serene, private dip pool was clean. Bed was extremely comfortable. This was by far one of the best hotels/villas we have stayed at in bali to date. Nice and close to Monkey Forest, easy walking distance to restaurants, tattoo parlours, main shopping yet quiet and you cant tell how close you are.
Ubud
Gorgeous villa with private pool. So much space! Lovely breakfast and great choice including GF bread for my daughter. The staff were really helpful. Its a little way out for central ubud so taxis are so cheap and we also used the shuttle provided by the reception. We also booked a massage which was lovely!
Ubud
The hotel is so comfortable we lived in a villa with private pool, the area is all green and rice field around you every where also there is a water fall near the hotel you can go walking, the staff are so nice, kind and friendly specially Yova she will not rest until she make sure you are happy
Ubud
I liked my one bedroom villa with private pool and the open air bathroom. Also a highlight were the monkeys from the nearby monkey forest. Hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming too.
The views from the Villa with private pool were amazing ! Definitely worth it. We could order breakfast to the room and have it there while staying at the pool. Best plan !
Amazing place to stay, it’s close to literally everything you’d want. During my Bali trip I stayed in cheap hotels, very expensive villas, but I enjoyed this one the most
Ubud
Everything was perfect. A hidden gem in the crazy world of Ubud so quiet and peaceful. Top 5 in my best hotels in Asia
