An ok town, shame as bit of a reflection of the current state of affairs in most British towns these days. Was once I’m sure a bustling and thriving market town. Very handy for walking to the brilliant Powis castle and the local steam train railway too. A few bars and restaurants also.

Welshpool is a quaint village.

Welshpool is a quaint village. It is not far from Shrewsbury which is a bit bigger and equally charming. Our favourite site was the the Shropshire Sculpture Park - you could easily spend a day walking around the park looking at hundreds of individual sculptures.

I know Welshpool very well, our daughter has lived there for 25yrs. A place came as a lovely surprise our daughter tookus for the day to Portmeirion. The lovely sunny day made ir just a day to remember. I remember The Corn store being nice to eat. We have eaten often in The Royal Oak always enjoyed it there. Charlie's is a nice place to look around very large garden centre with a nice eating place.

Home of Powys Castle. Near to Shrewsbury & ideal stop over on journey to Welsh coast towns. Lovely pub The Raven serving food daily & dog friendly. Also the small steam train from Raven Square through local countryside

We are both fairly familiar with the area, so did not in fact go to Welshpool this time. But it's an interesting little town, check what is the current market day - it used to be very interesting on Tuesdays but may have changed. The area has many interesting features with nice walks , Powys castle and the Edinburgh woollen mill. The comments below relate to the area not just the town. Welshpool itself is really only a few streets so its easy to get round.

Lovely little detached cottage in the hills of Welshpool, very quiet and relaxing. Had everything we needed, including a decorated Christmas tree! Bed was really comfortable and great shower. Kitchen had everything you needed and there’s a Tesco superstore nearby where you can get everything you need. Great walks around the cottage as well. For the dogs, they provided bowls, towels and blankets! Dogs loved the little paths on the lane!

Location for us is great for travelling to Barmouth, Lake Vernwy, Llangollen, Oswestry and more. The precise location at Valley View is lovely with the decking space and a suntrap this weekend. The lodge has a spacious lounge and decking area, bedrooms have pretty linen, full bathroom with shower over with a separate 2nd toilet & wash basin. Great mobile phone signal (we're with O2) better than we have at home.

Jean was lovely. She handed us the keys 🔑 as we were later than hoped arriving and we came and went as we needed. Perfect setting attached to the pub..but still very quiet. Bed was so comfy... plus had everything you needed from cooking to washing facilities. Lovely and warm. Great base for travelling into Welshpool each day to visit my sister.

A great quiet location, ideal for walking and yet close enough to walk into Welshpool through lovely countryside. The apartment was well furnished in character with the building but also comfortable. There was fresh milk for tea in the fridge rather than UHT that you find in many places which was also good
