Such a lovely traditional Scottish town with great little local and varied businesses. A friendly town for dogs and people. Beautiful countryside on the doorstep with some great dog walking areas on the doorstep. We loved it so much we’d like to move there!

Moffat is a good location for exploring the town and...

Moffat is a good location for exploring the town and surrounding area. Plenty of eating places and wee shops to wander the high street. Walks, cycling, golf and fishing near. Playparks for children. Can get bus to Hamilton or Glasgow or head south. train station nearby goes to Edinburgh. Lots of accommodation options.

It's a pretty country town, once a spa, set in deeply rural Southern Uplands, with good hill-walking a few miles away. There are a variety of shops, mainly local, some touristy. It's a good base for exploring a relatively unfrequented part of Scotland.

We only had chance for a short walk around the town but what...

We only had chance for a short walk around the town but what we did see looked good, bars, shops restaurants etc. It was easy to walk into Moffat from the guest house and is within easy reach of main roads leading to other towns.

Chose Moffat as a mid point stay on our from the East of...

Chose Moffat as a mid point stay on our from the East of England to the Isle of Skye and it was a perfect location. Moffat has a good mix of shops and pubs, we ate at the bull which was very nice. The surrounding country side is dramtic and forms a great back drop.

Moffat is a lovely town.

Moffat is a lovely town. We broke our journey from Inverness with an overnight stay there. It is a short distance from the main A74, there is ample free parking and the town has lots of hotels and eateries. Perfect.

Very welcoming and helpful host throughout my stay. My room was quiet and had everything I needed for my stay. The choice at breakfast was excellent, the dining room spacious and airy. There is a lovely lounge upstairs for residents use. I used the guest house as a stopover on a long drive from Scotland but would love to go back for a longer stay and explore the area around Moffat in the future.

Beautifully presented cottage, clean, cosy and the perfect stop off for our trip to the outer isles of Scotland, close to lovely Moffat and the Black Bull Pub for food which is extremely dog friendly. You can see that a lot of time and thought has been put into the cottage by the owner.

The beds were very comfortable. The shower was excellent. And the bar served the only good cask beer in the whole of Moffat. I usually use Premier Inn so this room seemed expensive in comparison. However, it compares well to other private hotels/pubs in central locations so no complaints.

Lovely location. Beautiful building and lovely hotel. Staff really helpful and friendly. So impressed were we with our stay that we had another booking elsewhere for the following month that we cancelled and then booked a return visit here at Moffat.
