FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Hotel staff made Edinburgh welcoming, went on both the bus tours and did some research for a new work project, so mixed a bit of business with pleasure. So much to see and do, shame i had to do a bit of work too.

Historical sites are a must see.

Historical sites are a must see. What I found most enchanting was the soul of the city. Due to its historical heritage and distinct culture you can feel it as you stroll through the city. Of course the Harry Potter theme runs throughout Edinburgh. If you a re afan I would adivse you to join a Harry Potter tour. The historical sites and pubs evening tours are also very interesting. The weather is very important. When it is cold and wet the city may look quite bleak and a little depressing. The story of Greyfriars Bobby is very touching.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city with so much history to explore. Plan your visit to make your journey to see as much as possible. I recommend doing a mystery guide as this took my family and I to areas we could have missed. Calton Hill at sunset is beautiful and breath taking. The castle is amazing. St Giles Cathedral is beautiful. I will not upload photos as it will take the beauty away and spoilers 🤭 see the city for yourself and make amazing memories.

Edinburgh is a very historical city, full of buildings from the 1700's which I liked. The transport system is fantastic and fast. The tram is only about 30 minutes to the centre of Edinburgh, which is very accessible. The hop on buses are perfectly coordinated, the green, blue and red buses, and price was reasonable.

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. Good water pressure. Easy check-in and out. Excellent communications. A little walk outside the main centre which we knew when booking, but easily walkable in 15 mins, or make use of the good bus network. Quiet. Various restaurants nearby where we ate in the evenings- no need to go to the busy city centre for good food Used the Leith river walk to go to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Tesco round the corner. Thank you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Edinburgh aparthotel.

Hotel was modern, excellent facilities and location. Swimming pool was fab. Few minutes walk to tram line which takes your directly into Edinburgh City or From Edinburgh airport. KFC & Krispy Kreme Donuts directly across road. We had our car with us so we had chosen here for the car parking facilities rather than city centre, however I would have no hesitation staying here again if I was to fly over as tram line is so so convenient and cheap.
