The best place to stay in Appenzell offers breathtaking views and feels straight out of a fairy tale. The hotel has been newly renovated and features an Italian restaurant downstairs, so you don't even need to drive into town. What impressed us the most about this hotel was not just the stay or the location, but the exceptional service we received. From the moment we arrived, Polina came out to help us with our luggage and stroller, even carrying our baby up to the third floor while we managed the rest of our things. When we requested hot water, she promptly brought us a kettle. She also provided berries for our baby, arranged our table for breakfast the next day, and even prepared apple puree for our little one. The list of her thoughtful assistance goes on. Whatever we needed, Polina was there to help. Throughout our trip in Switzerland, we had not encountered anyone as dedicated to caring for guests as she was. Polina also shared local attractions, food recommendations, and hiking tips with us, making my wife's time enjoyable as they discussed various topics. During checkout, she surprised us with a thoughtful souvenir. I highly recommend this hotel to families visiting Appenzell.

Absolutely fantastic place! have no complaints whatsoever. The kitchen is fully stocked and amazing. High quality appliances and ample space. The dining room, living room and terrace were awesome. And we got a free upgrade from the owner to the rooms upstairs. She was so accommodating and friendly. You can really tell that the place has been treated with love and care and every detail is thought about. I would recommend this place to anyone

Pleasant place to visit and probably also to live in. Nice historical town center, wonderful views on surrounding mountains. I did not have time to make hiking trip unfortunately. Plenty of restaurants, we choose the restaurant of Hotel Santis and were satisfied.

On our second stay at this hotel, we very much enjoyed the variety of fresh food and drinks at breakfast, especially the local cheese, yogurt and bread options. The young lady at the front desk went out of her way to share a butterzopf recipe with us when she noticed how much we were enjoying the bread! Very kind of her. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel is well-located, just across the St. Mauritius Church. We loved hearing the church bells through the open windows.

This hotel is centrally located and close to the train station. There is a wonderful Italian Restaurant at the bottom and they also have a take-away menu. Rooms are clean and well appointed. The staff are helpful however Matthew is in another league - he went out of his way to make my stay special and had helpful advice about the local area including hiking tips.

Lovely traditional hotel, which had comfy beds and lovely quiet rooms. We had dinner one night which was excellent, and the breakfast each morning was delicious and set us up for the day. Special mention to all the staff who were very welcoming and friendly. Excellent position right in the middle of town, which allowed for a lovely walk after dinner.

Very nice and clean accomodation. Walking distance from train station and some nice hiking routes. Many hiking routes within short travel distance. Complementary Appenzeller Ferienkarte is an excellent deal with free access to train and cable car. NIce hosts. Good WiFi. Tremendous beautiful mountain views.
