Well located with easy access to the metro and tourist spots. The hotel is well designed and rooms functional and surprisingly roomy. But the most exceptional is the hotel staff from the lobby to the reception and housekeeping.

I loved the rooms, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were all really professional and friendly. The location was great to see the attractions like the ice hockey and still close enough to go to Stanley park and Gaston and all the shops in Robson St and Frankie’s restaurant.

We stayed at Smithe House when we were going to a concert at BC Place. The location was perfect for us. It was a quick walk to the stadium! There was a nice little woodfire pizza restaurant just a few minutes walk away. They upgraded us and our room was fantastic... modern and clean with all of the appliances you could need, a shower with nice water pressure, the most comfortable bed and pillows, and even a private balcony! They were even thoughtful enough to ask what coffee we would prefer. You don't need to check in at a desk. Everything is done via text/email. We paid for private secure parking in their garage...highly recommended! Their communication is the absolute best. We spoke with them several times before and during our stay. We highly recommend Smithe House and will hopefully get to stay there again soon!

FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.

What Guests Said About Vancouver:

Needed a lot more time.

Needed a lot more time. Stanley Park was amazing but I only saw just a little of it. The Hop on Hop off buses were fantastic, really enjoyed Sherry, one of the drivers commentary. The Capilano suspension bridge is worth the trip, as to the Sea to Sky Gondola. Just trying to time your day around the weather. Remember to pack a raincoat/umbrella.

So much to see and do, and most of it easy to get to.

So much to see and do, and most of it easy to get to. Public Transport was excellent and easy to use. On our first stay in Vancouver prior to a cruise we were in East Hastings which meant driving through a pretty rough area full of drug affected persons, but this was educational as I had no idea just how bad fentanyl problem was. (Cant say I was impressed by the plethora of shops in same area selling marijuana, as this seemed to be part of the drug addiction problem). Post cruise we stayed closer to the cruise port and saw a completely different side of Vancouver. During our pre and post cruise stays we visited Lynn Canyon, Grosse Mountain, Stanley Park, Van Dussen Gardens, Granville Markets, did a short ferry tour from the markets, took a day tour to Whistler, admired the Marine Building and other deco buildings in the central theatre area, did the FlyOver Canda experience, visited Gastown (and were underwhelmed by the clock). Basically we wore our legs to stumps and had a lovely time and plan to go back in 2027 as the start of a longer exploration of Canada

Of all the cities we have been to in Canada this seems to us to be the nicest one of them all. Beautiful, modern and pleasant scenery. We would recommend the city to anyone. This city can be walked, biked, ... Stanley park is a jewel and it is vast. The perimeter walk is 10 km if I am not mistaken. Capilano bridge is a must, if not for the bridge, its for the trees! Our property was located in the eastern part of Vancouver center and to come back I would definitely look for a property in the western part of the city in order to cut down on walk time ant to take advantage of that part of the city. Be prepared to see homeless people in the city. They keep to themselves however a sad situation to witness. I'm assigning no blame here. This city was super clean and we felt safe to walk it.

We had a 5 night stay in Vancouver and packed a lot in; Granville Island, shopping in the city centre, trip to Victoria (went out by seaplane and back by ferry), Vancouver aquarium and Stanley Park; the art gallery and Christ Church cathedral, space museum and planetarium, Gastown area and the Waterfront. Also managed to catch an ice hockey game! It's a great city for public transport - buy an all-day ticket from a Skytrain station - and there's lots of cafes, bars and restaurants although I struggled with gluten-free options. Shopping is good too - Downtown for all the major names and Granville Island for local crafts. Would avoid the area east of Gastown.

Stanley Park (Aquarium) and Grouse Mountain and Capilano...

Stanley Park (Aquarium) and Grouse Mountain and Capilano Bridge are a must. Davie and Drake streets area are a bit dodgy with laneways exhibiting the homelessness dilemma. The number of legal cannabis shops is a bit of a turn-off. If only they could look less dodgy. Most parts of the city and surrounds towards Queen Elizabeth Park (a must) are green and a delight to stroll through. Good Public Transport (get a Compass Card). Advice to city officials...please pressure clean footpaths once a week. This goes for most of the Canadian bigger cities.

We had a very nice stay at the Windsor Guest House in Vancouver. The location is perfect, just near Broadway City Hall Metro Station, very easy to reach from Vancouver International Airport and 3-4 stops from Vancouver Downtown. More than that, the staff was superfriendly, both the one that has welcomed us in as well as the breakfast staff. The breakfast is a nice moment also to exchange ideas and experiences with the other guests. It's definitely the best choice for us in Vancouver, and we recommend it.

HI Vancouver Downtown Hostel is a functional, safe, and well-located base for Vancouver. While the price is high for a hostel, that reflects Vancouver’s hotel crunch more than the hostel itself. If you value location, security, and the option to self-cater over luxury, this hostel can work—just book early and manage expectations about noise, ventilation, and shared space etiquette. ✅ Best for: Budget-conscious solo travelers, couples, and Gen-Xers who don’t mind hostel quirks.
