There are so many reasons to stay here, #1 being the family themselves. They are very friendly, all around good people. They were super welcoming, helped us with all of our plans and even invited us to join for dinner when it started raining. It was great to practice our Spanish (we are learning) and Angel was a very good teacher, helping us to improve. They made us a different breakfast each morning, including homemade tortillas. Would for sure stay here again if we found ourselves back in Guatemala. Thanks for everything!

The hosts are SO welcoming and kind and make you feel like you’re coming home after an adventurous day! I stayed in the dorm and honestly haven’t only had the best shower, but also the best sleep ever in whole Central America! The kitchen is super well equipped and there is even a pizza delivery service straight to the hostel. How cool!!! In conclusion- DEFINITELY stay here. I promise you will love it like I do!

Even it is not the cheapest place you can get, you most definitely get more than you are expecting. The bathroom was the biggest surprise. It comes with a free standing tub from where you have a really nice view over the lake and the volcano on the opposite lake side!

Offering a year-round outdoor pool and located at the edge of Lake Atitlán, Hotel Toliman is set in San Lucas Tolimán in the Solola Region, 45 km from Antigua Guatemala. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant with organic food from the orchard in the extensive garden. The grounds of this hotel are spectacular! It is right by the dock, so it is easy to walk to the property. The restaurant is very reasonably priced, considering that there are not a lot of options for dining (we were on foot). The food is exceptional, and plenty of it comes from their organic garden, of which we had a lovely tour. The hotel website offers full details of how community minded and eco-friendly this business is. The pool looks odd because it is dark. However, I imagine it helps heat the water, along with the solar panels. If you are looking for a couple of days in paradise, this is the place. And the view from the restaurant 🤩

Accessed only by boat from Panajachel, the apartments at Atitlan Sunset Lodge Apartments come with a large seating area, plus a dining table and a private terrace with lake views. The private bathrooms are equipped with a shower and toilet. This may be the best place I have stayed. The views were incredible. The location was easy to access, but very private and peaceful. The on site staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good and the staff there were very friendly. Having access to a free paddleboard for the morning was great. Great place to swim right off the dock. The hot tub was a nice place to hang out in at sunset. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and there was (decently) hot water. The concierge was helpful and helped me arrange transportation back to Antigua. Cannot recommend enough!!
