Het ligt wat verder uit het centrum tussen prachtige rijstvelden. Op de bovenverdieping heb je een adembenemend zicht terwijl je aan het ontbijten bent. De gastvrouw Dila is de meest vriendelijke en behulpzame vrouw dat wij al zijn tegengekomen. Ze gaf tips over waar we de beste koffie konden vinden en mooiste plekjes in old town Padang. Na een lange busrit had zij speciaal gekookt voor ons. De lekkerste tempeh dat we hier al gegeten hebben. Een tip vraag naar haar vers gemaakt kruidenthee! Jammer genoeg hebben we haar man Mickael niet kunnen ontmoeten. We hadden wel contact via WhatsApp. Daarin is hij ook bijzonder gastvrij en even enthousiast als zijn vrouw. De kamer is ongelofelijk netjes met een groot!!! bed. Dus wat verder uit het centrum maar wij kunnen het alleen maar ten zeerste aanraden!

Orangutan Treks Villa & Eco-Friendly Jungle Trekking Activities ligt in Timbanglawang met uitzicht op de tuin en heeft een restaurant, roomservice, bar, tuin en terras. I very much enjoyed my stay here. I spent 2 nights before my jungle trek and 1 night after. I booked the 2 day/1 night jungle trek with them as well. I actually think that is the only way you can stay at their guesthouse, so they ensure that their trekking clients have accommodation. Communication with the manager, Dedycool was faultless, from the time i made my initial inquiry to when the driver picked me up at the airport. The room was spotless, the bed and pillows were some of the most comfortable I've had in 5 months of travel, and the AC did the job. The staff could not have been more welcoming, both upon arrival and every time I came for a meal or returned from an outing. The location outside of the village ensured a peaceful nights sleep. I enjoyed the 30 minute walk to the center, allowing me to see people going about their daily lives. The jungle trek was phenomenal in every way. Both guides, Edwin and Janet, were professional and got excited when we saw orangutans (we saw 7). The food both at the guesthouse and on the trek was very tasty. The trekking was challenging but not overly so. It was fun scrambling up hillsides using vines and roots as foot and hand holds. The camping was much more comfortable than I expected. The camping mats were thick, and the lightweight sleeping bag was just right for the temperature. The rafting back to the village was super fun and a great way to end the 2 days in the jungle. I'm very pleased with my decision to book through Sumatra Orangutans Treks.

Mario Lakeside Apartments in Tuk Tuk biedt accommodatie met uitzicht op de bergen, gratis fietsen, een tuin, een terras, een restaurant en een barbecue. I truly loved everything about Mario Lakeside. The location is peaceful and beautiful, right by the lake — perfect for relaxing. The room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. What made this place special is the heart behind it. The owner, Pak Ali, is a kind and inspiring person. He also runs a foundation for children with cleft lips in Sumatra — which made my stay feel even more meaningful. Upstairs, there’s a vegetarian café with delicious food. They grow some of their ingredients on-site (farm-to-table concept), and I was blown away by the haloumi sandwich – they even import the cheese from the UK! It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place that stays with you. I’d definitely come back if I visit Toba again.

SeaGate Bungalows heeft een tuin, een privéstrand, een terras en een restaurant in Sabang. Super happy we stayed here. Very beautiful and clean cottage directly in front of a private beach with corals and lots of fish. Perfect for snorkeling and you can rent masks there. The restaurant was also great with nice staff. Borja and his wife super chill and helpful. Fully recommended!
