Fabulous city, fabulous people - do warm and friendly So much variety Loved it Are at Harley Gray - lobster disappointed but the fish & chips great Baja Bettys was buzzing, friendly, fabulous - loved it The Midway was fabulous - but not cheap! The Old Town trolley was perfect for getting around Balboa park was another not to miss! All round fabulous city to stay
very walkable and even better on a bike , including getting to Coronado island, which I highly recommend. Balboa park is great / one of the best I have visited in any City and also say a 30 min walk from down town. Only down side is the number of street people ! - everywhere from down town to Balboa park. One other negative are the extra service and /or credit card fees on most all bills - not used to that - why not increase the prices and be transparent ??
I stayed overnight to catch a show at the Old Globe in Balboa Park. Loved the theater. The park is AMAZING. Restaurants in the area were terrific. The next morning walked the Seven Bridges Trail and saw a lot of San Diego around the park. It was long (over 5 miles) but educational. Looking forward to coming back again sometime.
While I definitely have a soft spot for San Diego and visit fairly often, it has gotten more run down in the last 10 years. Mission Beach and Pacific Beach have gotten pretty trashy. The area is mostly for young people looking to get drunk, loud and obnoxious. I prefer the Gaslamp and Seaport Village area but those areas do have issues with homeless people hanging around the area. I think the best area in San Diego is the Torrey Pines area and Coronado Island, both of which I highly recommend staying at if you go to San Diego.
There are plenty of online reviews of San Diego that provide tons of insight. Simply put, San Diego offers a variety of enjoyable activities and great restaurants. It would be hard not to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant visit.
We were only in San Diego for night as we had a flight to catch the next day. San Diego is a beautiful city with a lot to see such as San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Legoland or just going to the beach. Too many places to name that are great to eat at. On this trip we ate at Shake Shack and it was delicious!
Downtown San Diego, San Diego
The apartment was comfortable and easy to access. The location is also quite good, although being below the SAN flight path might bother some guests. The apartment was clean on arrival.
