I'm not easily excited, but this is probably the first time I give a 10 out of 10 (and would give it 11 if I could). The staff is really exceptional (even for Japanese standards), very polite, very kind and very considerate. The building was built in the 70s (it's been a family business ever since) so it got the flair from that time (even the faucets on the washbasin in the bathroom seem to be from that era). Everything is well kept and working without problems. And of course verything is clean. It's located just next to the two tunnels leading towards the city, so it's conveniently accessed by car (be sure to slow down when exiting the tunnel or you'll miss it). By foot it's 20 minutes and only one of the tunnels can be used - I'd recommend a taxi. For foreigners: The staffs English is a bit limited, but it's sufficient for basic communication. If you want an authentic stay with the kind of atmosphere you might have seen in an older movie: This is your place to go.

The property is set 12 km from Shingu Castle Ruins Park, 12 km from Kamikura Shrine and 19 km from Kumanoshi Kiwakozan Museum. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen and a 24-hour front desk for guests. We were genuinely quite surprised at how nice this hotel was. Visiting as part of a three week tour for our honeymoon, we stayed in 9 hotels, and some swanky ones costing almost 10x this per night. Somehow I remember this over most of them. Value for money, this was the best out of them all. Service was amazing (obviously, it's Japan). The reception, halls and rooms were mostly made out of wood and with the lighting low and moody, it was a very chilled and relaxing place to be. The bed was gigantic, and the amenities in the room just what you need - really good shower with good shampoo and gel, mirrors, water, tea & coffee with a kettle, pj's etc. In addition, there's a communal area on the ground floor with a fridge containing frozen fresh soups (didn't try), and a microwave, kettle, and all of the utensils for dinner in a kitchen area nearby. It's on a main-ish road but we couldn't hear any noise at all in case you have concerns. There's no restaraunt here but they offer bento boxes for breakfast. I'd highly recommend the Benkei restaraunt over the road for some extremely nice Ramen!

Clean and safe hostel with an amazing and very helpful host. I ran into self-induced troubles and was helped out graciously. Had a wonderful sleep and a nourishing breakfast that was included in the very affordable price. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll stay here for sure!

Boasting hot spring baths and a beautiful garden overlooking the ocean, Toba International Hotel Shiojitei offers luxurious accommodation in Toba. The hotel is a 4-minute drive or free shuttle ride from Kintetsu Toba Train Station. Free WiFi is offered at the public area. Free parking is available. It is great hotel. Room was big, comfortable, beautiful with big windows and view on the ocean. Exceptionally delicious breakfast and great hot springs. Thank you very much for amazing stay!

The house looks and feels like an old-style Japanese home but with modern facilities inside. Everything seemed to be new, and the instructions for everything were included in English as well. For a family with little kids, it was perfect because they had toys and baby chairs, a nice crib and other things that we didn't need (like pack-n-play, etc). With a washer and dryer included, it made staying several days super convenient and enjoyable. P.S. I always appreciate good wifi and this house has very high speed wifi that reaches throughout the house.
